watching the O line drills

You are basing this on the Senior Bowl then. Guy gave up like 5 sacks in two years at LT. Sounds to me like he doesn't get beat a lot.

You are quoting what you have read from the nay sayers. The guy is going to be good.

He needs strength and to lower his pads/bend his knees. Other than that, he is the complete package.

No, you're completely making crap up, lol.

I never mentioned the Senior Bowl or parroted anything anyone has said.

If anything, you're the one hyping up what the analysts are saying at the combine.

Its obvious you haven't really seen the kid play and are assuming nobody else has either. I've been saying these critisms about Solder since before the college season even ended. I've seen four of his games this season. Not to mention there are plenty of full game highlights/lowlights o him available on YouTube.

5 sacks, three years. Sounds like you are exaggerating.

Nope. He just happened to actually watch him and all you do is parrot what you read.

You obviously have a myopic approach in judging how to look at a offensive linemen.

Sacks are simply a stat that shows a defensive player completing a play. Sack numbers don't speak to how many plays an offensive lineman gives up where his QB is rushed to throw the ball away; is forced to leave the pocket; or how many potential plays breakdown because the OT (in this case) allows pressure to get to his QB.

Here's some things to look at: 1:11, 1:20, 2:00, 2:45, 3:21 marks

This is not to say Solder can't become a player, but to start crowing this guy is clearly the best OT in the draft is silly.

Solder is a developmental guy, probably more than Smith even. Both have great ceilings, but they are not ready to play in the pros yet and will be drafted high for potential and not an immediate need.

I think he'll go in the #20-32 range personally.

I beginning to think that Sherrod and Carimi are the best two picks for Dallas

I rank them

Sherrod
Carimi
Smith
Castonzo

If anything I am more certain that Cannon in the 2nd is the way to go. He is huge at almost 360 but moves very very well. Cannon also did not look fat at that weight nor is he as weak as some of the projected first rounders. And I love his versatility - projected at either RT or RG, two positions of need with the Cowboys.

Watch the game tape. Solder's body of work just isn't all that impressive. Too high, no anchor, weak. Castanzo's good but looks alittle stiff, almost alittle clumsy at times. Mayock played for BC that's one reason he's all over his jock.

Give me Carimi/Sherrod and Wisneiwski/Pouncey and I'll be one happy camper.

Should say i don't know much about Smith but him not working out here at the combine can't help his cause.

I've seen bad "tape" of all of them. That doesn't change his ceiling one bit.

I was unimpressed by Carimi's footwork in several of the drills, including the mirror drill. If he had been playing against an actual defensive lineman, there were a few times where the guy would have had the edge and blown by him.

He's probably better in game, but he's not a dancer, he's definitely strictly a RT which means no way I'd want him unless we trade down past 25 or so.

While this is all true, I absolutely loved when he pushed the dude when he fell down. Couldn't help himself. He's probably my favourite player in the draft, and I'd love for us to find a way to get him. His type succeeds in the NFL.

His "ceiling" is something you've created arbitrarily in your mind. His game tape is what's happened in reality on the field and it wasn't that impressive.

Regardless of each person take on Solder if he is being looked at as a 1st rd pick or early 2nd he clearly has the talent to be a very good lineman or he would not be rated as high as he is. As for flaws you can find them in every player out there

I think he's a good prospect with talent in-place to work with. His lofty projected draft status is partly due to this being a generally weak OT crop.

If I'm a team in the late 20s of the 1st round, I wouldn't think twice about drafting him. Anything earlier is a bit of a reach IMO.
