The NFL should agree with the Player's Union to eliminate the Franchise Tag in exchange for putting a rule in place to eliminate holdouts by players under contract.
There's a new tactic, "hold-ins", players show up at practice, they just don't practice or just go through some walk-thru drills. There are a couple NFL players doing that now.

The players would never agree to this and I don’t even think the owners care enough about holdouts to even propose this.

Why should they the rules in place $40,000 a day is what lamb is experiencing right now and finds he cannot recoup that cannot be waived and then if he misses games $1 million a game that is enough motivation to say right now it's posturing but I believe they will come into camp soon regardless of a new deal and they will both play same thing with Parsons he stands to lose 1.5 million a game and $60,000 in fines and Prescott he's under contract he's technically not holding out and I don't think he will cause he'd be losing $2.5 million a game and all these people have to realize there's rules in place if you don't play a certain amount of games in your last year of your contract you lose eligibility for your free agency..

So why should the owners worry about it it is in place for them the players are being fined they're gonna be money taken away they're being encouraged to come in and the deal will get done it's not like they haven't been talking literally everyone saying there's been talks behind the scenes it just no deal yet... I don't blame the players for not being in camp or practice I don't care as long as when a week before the game starts they show up for practice and get prepared to play new contract or not it makes no sense for them not to because they can in turn be franchise tagged they can lose eligibility for free agency I mean this is a NFL club. I think it's worth $100 billion all the teams are worth multiple billion dollars I'm pretty sure they have a general understanding with all the unions and the contracts of how all this is gonna work out not everyone is as clueless and dumb as Antonio Brown and le'veon bell did to themselves that's not gonna happen because there's even more stringent rules than they were back then.... I get the posturing I don't blame either side but I believe something's gonna get done whenever it gets done we have a team for 2024 and I believe they're all gonna show up and play new deal or not they're all coming to play...

The rule would be that no contract extensions can be signed after camp starts. Only free agents could sign after the beginning of camp.

Ir doesn't hurt the Cowboys to have Lamb not in camp for the 1st week or 2. It gives the others valuable reps.

Only the franchises that have zero clue on cap management would be in favor of this, the rest would never agree to this which is the majority.

What is the limit or rule now?

The franchise tag is a very valuable asset to managements side and they would never give that up in exchange for no holdout possibility.

Think of how much different things would be with Prescott if the Cowboys could possibly tag him after this season.

It’s a big deal, and a big chip that was part of original free agency. The players would need to give up at least around 5% of the revenue split to get rid of it, and they won’t considering it only affects a very small percentage of their membership. Non issue.

It was not overly valuable to the Cowboys; otherwise, they would not have given up their ability to Franchise Dak...

The reason that Lamb's agent has him holding out, is to notify the team that tagging him next year would get really ugly.

Lamb would get an even bigger contract if he waited until March 2025 but agents like the publicity of holdouts.

If the players are going to force the issue with holdouts a year before free agency, then the Franchise Tag is becoming much less valuable.

Team's rarely save money with the Tag, long term. Players get market value once the sign a contract. If they play on the Tag, then market value is higher a year later.

It would have cost them more money or more guaranteed money to have retained the right to tag him.

The agent held most of the cards at the time, and has an even better hand now.
