We are really close to being great.

It's not even funny how close. All we need is a bit more of a pass rush. You can complain about DBs not covering but that isn't the problem when the other team has their QB running around without containment. All we need is 1 or 2 more pass rushers. We only have 1 pass rusher right now. With Ellis that's 2 guys to rush the passer. We may need to sign 1 or 2 more because injuries happen. If we get a pass rush our offense is good enough with Romo and Barber and Jones. And we have a good enough LB unit to stop the run. We just need a pass rush.

I agree. This offense will score points all day. It just can't play from behind and become 1-dimensional, and this defense forces it sometimes.

We don't need to draft another linebacker - we need to go out in free agency and get a proven commodity.

WE will never get there with Zimmy as a coach.............NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know if Zimmer is the problem. We still can't get a pass rush.

Even with Ellis we were vulnarable in the middle. Our interior LBs cannot cover a half decent tight end.

We have been beat by this for weeks and have yet to change anything to fix it.

Well, one positive was that at least we covered the FB and RBs in the flat today.

But our lack of a pass rush is just too obvious.

But we are close to being sucky.

That's the NFL for you though.

A lack of a pass rush makes it tough to cover anyone.

Yes. I knew the loss of Ellis was huge. We are definitely feeling that now.

Being a skins fan, I was pampered by a great defense up until this year. I never realized how important a pass rush is to pass defense. You can have Sean Taylor, Ed Reed, Brian Dawkins, Champ Bailey, whoever you want, in your DBs. Without a pass rush, even Todd Collins could tear that defense apart.

I don't agree with this at all.

We're much better than we were a few years ago, but we are not close.

On defense, our NT is getting long in the tooth, our DE's are soft and get pushed back, our LB's are not making plays (Brady has really gone downhill badly, from talk of a probowl early in the season to wondering if he can get the job done in the 2nd half), and our Roy, as much as we love him gets exposed more and more every game.

On offense, our OL still needs work, we don't have a star RB (though I like the combination), and our WR's aren't going to be effective for more than another year or two, and that's assuming they are both even back next year.

Mind you, I'm not saying we're not a decent team, but we're not "really close" to being a great team, imo.

And Playboy is close to hiring me as their new photographer. There, now we're both in denial.

Wow, I love the optimism, but at some point you have to be a little realistic.

Do you guys realize we have probably the most Healthy team in the NFC, and more research by myself could find maybe in the entire NFL?

Bottom line, you tell any Cowboys fan that the Eagles are gonna be without Jevon Kearse, Donovan McNabb and 36 year old Jeff Garcia is their QB, and most would say they like the Cowboys chances.

That game was not even competitive. Heck, the one highlight, where Henry got the INT, he was beat for the majority of that play, but Garcia threw it late.

This team is not very good. They are an average team at best.

And Michael Irvin had the nerve to say Parcells deserved to be COTY over Reid  .

Who the hell would be optimistic after a braindead effort like today? Jeez.

PRAY PRAY PRAY all you christians, that Romeo Crenell gets fired from Clevland, and bring him in here. In fact, get me anyone who can run the 3-4 defense effectively. I dont even like Zimmer when he runs the system that he is comfortable with, it's too passive. **** THIS **** WITH HIM! I'm so tired of rushing 3 or 4 guys and letting a QB sit there for an hour.

:laugh2:

No, we actually just need to grow some balls and get a real DC.

Zimmer isn't getting it done. Period.
