We need to get back to the ground and pound offense

...or, at least, the modern NFL version of it. Dak is not the QB to be averaging nearly 600 passes a season, he's not built for that. People can point to how much we scored when Dak came back, simple fact is, while we scored more we also turned the ball over more. I don't think Cooper Rush is a better QB than Dak, but I think the gameplans we had for Rush were better overall for the team. Get a physical back to punch defenses in the mouth and have a player like Pollard to punish them when they wear down while Dak spreads the ball around and drains the clock to keep the defense fresh. Having Dak go out there and "just sling it" like he's Mahomes will always leave our offense mistake prone.

Dak isn't going anywhere, sadly, he won't be traded and he certainly won't be cut - what we can do is reign him in.

They tried that all year.

The same offense you can win with when Cooper Rush is your QB is the same offense we have to use with Mr. 40 mill.

Very simple yet effective concept. I’ve been saying this forever

Can’t do it as long as Zeke is on the roster getting half the carries.

Until he’s off the roster this style of attack isn’t possible to sustain.
I'd be surprised if Zeke is back next season unless he takes a hefty pay cut. June 1st cut.

That wasn't at all the same offense though - plays were certainly drawn up for him to sling it downfield more. It was a much more aggressive offense - Dak's best games was when he was throwing around 30 passes or less.

Fingers crossed.

I’m all for a solid running game but Zeke aside all the best teams in football are able to air it out with multiple weapons.

I’m all for continuing to chip away at the OL and replacing Zeke but we have to fix the WR room as well.

I don't think pollard will be here either. So yes, we absolutely need to shore up our run game with fresh new blood.

We can only pray that Dak can string together wins in the playoffs with more talent and better coaching next year. We're stuck with him for two more years, but we can secure his replacement and bench him when the new guy supplants him in his last remaining season with the Cowboys.

Like when QBs get hot and are in the zone it's hard to stop them, it was the opposite for Dak, he was stuck in a rut with turnover issues and that stuff is really hard to clean up during the season.

I don't expect Dak to always have this high of an INT rate - but this playstyle just doesn't suit him.

We don't need to pound, we need to BREAK AWAY, we need to make people miss, we need to block, we need to not get tackled by our shoelaces all the time!! Get guys that make you want to run the ball not pass!!!!

Ground and pound is fine as long as you don't ever fall too far behind. Otherwise you need to be able to pass the ball. Especially in today's NFL.

They're not built for that anymore and the OC doesn't want to play that way. The line isn't as good, Zeke is toast, and KM lives to pass.

Of course there will be a game here and there where the QB needs to put up numbers - but we should be treating Dak like Payton treated Brees in his final few seasons. Reign him in and allow other players to pick up the slack and make plays.

KM only seems to live to pass when Dak is in there though. For some reason, he and McCarthy have bought into Dak's overblown view of himself.

100% - unfortunately the “allow other players to make plays” is tough when we have 1 playmaker at WR.

10000%

Been saying this for several years now. We played our best football when lead by a dominate run game. However KM does not know how to generate a run game or gives up on it way to early. Just look at SF last night. They didn't abandon the run game that went nowhere for 75% game. It finally opened up once the defense wore down.

Zeke needs to be gone. Period. Can't continue to give him carries when he is beyond useless at this point. Keep Pollard, stop being cheap and bring in a RB in FA you don't have to go crazy, and continue to grow Davis

We don't have the line for that would require quite a rebuild and also depth would have to be acquired

We don’t have the run blockers or the runners to do that anymore. Biadasz and McGovern get pushed back on the reg. We have to run outside to get anything going.
