Not because I ever thought he was going to start making kicks, but because it made us more agressive on offense. Remember all those 3rd and longs Romo has been converting? You think if bill had trusted the kicker, we would still have thrown long passes good for 1st down? No, he would have done the old bill routine of a crap Draw Play for 3 yards and settled for a field goal.

Now that parcells apparently thinks we have a viable kicker, expect to see more of the 'play not to lose, bus driver, field goal' mentality we have all come to hate.

That is a very good point and I thought the same thing......I dont want to hold back ROMO because big Bill believes we can get the sure 3 and play defense.

Let's just hope this is not fact.......

Well Bill already admitted as much didnt he when he said the FG situation was causing us to play differently and he didnt like that..

What else could that mean?

I just hate it. It makes no sense...we were WINNING games that way. Maybe grammatica will help the kicking game but it does no good if we go back to the god-awful play not to lose style of football that has lost us more games than i can count.

welcome back to bill ball. Cardiac cowboys anyone?
The thing is Tony has shown a pention to audible into some big plays. Not that much will change. That is unless tony starts throwing INTs.

I totally disagree. This guy was paid too much to be inconsistent. He never said I've got to work harder only don't worry about me coach. I feel better about the kicking game. Also reports are that Gramatica is making all his kicks in practice and he firing up guys when making his kicks. He just have to watch his celebrations after makes. Vanderjagt didn't have much to celebrate. Romo has the green light.

I don't think you actually read the thread, did you?

Exactly... BIG PLAY Tony has shown he can do it... worst case scenario.. we only do it when we really need to...

Actually... I think Bill has more confidence in Grammy... if not confidence, then MORE hope

I think our new aggressive third and long offense is more a product of one Antonio Romo and his amazing ability to convert that stuff.

I disagree with you as well and I read the thread. Bill needed someone he can go to when the game is on the line that will put points on the board. As much as I have professed my absolute affection for Tony Romo, there will be times as we get into the meat of the remaining schedule, that we will need to get the kicker in the game. We had absolutely no option with Vanderchoke. Now we have a viable option. I can't see any real reason why the offensive philosophy will change. After all, we know what got us to this point. Bill won't change the whole offensive philosophy just because he purged a cancer. If anything, this will help all of us to rest a bit easier when the decision has to be made to go for it or kick. Remember, Tony Romo is at the helm. That makes 3rd and longs doable. Bill knows this and loves the aggressive approach. Most of the time going for it on 4th down is a crap shoot anyway. I would much prefer to take a sure three and pick back up on the next drive instead of giving the opposing team beautiful filed position on a sure missed FG.

The only change we'll see is actual FGs being made. We'll all be shocked at the lack of drama at the FG position from here on out too.

Its like smokin cigg's in the bathroom as a kid, the 1st time is real tough, but it actually become too easy and loss of caution .

BP has been to the well, he see's what Romo has done, he will be back for more, especially if Romo is on a roll by early 1st qtr........

Would think early 1st qtr, with Romo a little bit of a slow starter, could See BP play it a little closer to the vest, but after that the taste for a "Cool" will kick in

Well that could be and I certainly dont otherwise expect to get 5 FG's instead of 5 TD's in a game but still, Bill is the one that made the comment which made me wonder..

I mean he could've said.. Oh no.. no, you wont see anything change in our offensive approach, we wont play any differently..we're fine there.. I just wanted a kicker who can make a kick when I ask him too.. thats all.

If we are going to start a thread about who we should have kept regarding kicks....we should start with Matt Bryant instead of Vandy.

Ray Finkle sucks. Nothing to do with agressiveness on offense. Third and long happens all the time and we finally have someone who can make it happen. Our aggressiveness on offense has EVERYTHING to do with Romohol and his surrounding cast. Field position with kickoffs I coud buy, our sudden opportunities at moving the ball......blame Romo. You didn't notice the aggressiveness coming to fruition as soon as Bledsoe was sat? C'mon.
BTW.....Finklejagt, he SUCKS.

Interesting theory but we still need a good kicker. What if Vandy cost us the Colts game. He blew the skins game. No matter how potent your offense, you'll still inevitably need to make clutch kicks. I think Romo was converting third downs because Bill trusts him with the play and Romo's been really good.
