I did not realize " Marsha " (Elisabeth Brook) from the Howling had passed away quite some time ago.

My favorite was the original Wolfman with Lon Chaney jr. That was a classic with Maleva the gypsy woman. I like the old classic horror movies from the 1930s and 40s.

The Howling gotta be in the top 2-3, the transformations were awesome. Those transformation scenes were created by Rob Bottin that also created the legendary practical FX for "The Thing".

One of my favorites is one that gets very little attention...

"Werewolf of London" (1935)

This was the first full-length werewolf movie–predating Lon Chaney's by a handful of years.

It's not the best werewolf movie of all-time, but it's a good scary movie.

The movie also gets credit for introducing what are now familiar "werewolf" movie fundamentals...

-A person who survives a werewolf attack, and is bitten in the process becomes a werewolf
-A person who has been bitten (and survived) a werewolf attack will change into a werewolf when the moon is full
-That werewolves were men/wolf hybrids

None of these now familiar concepts existed prior to being introduced in this movie–That in itself should make this a "held in high regard" werewolf flick.

And then were have song, "Werewolves of London" and "American Werewolf in London" which were both influenced by this movie.

I love werewolves in movies. Harry Potter Prisoner of Azkaban is decent. I definitely want to see Ginger snaps. Underworld was cool. I need to see a lot more lol.

While it's not a Werewolf movie, it was one in it. Not the best movie but it did something no other one of it's time did. Monster Squad showed what happens if you blew up a Werewolf but didn't use silver. It was pretty cool.

Sometimes I get the Lon Chaney roles mixed up ... Father and Son.

Most of the best ones have been listed. However here are some you might not have seen or heard of and might be watching. None are as good as the ones already listed IMO.

Just watched one I have never seen and never heard of prior.

The Wolf of Snow Hollow. - Free on Tubi

Kind of a comedy as a young Deputy is basically losing his mind and going off on everybody and in some parts it was pretty funny.

=====

Howl - Free on Filmrise

British passenger train passing through country side and has to stop do to a werewolf.

=====

Werewolves within - On AMC+ or Hulu

A comedy
A snowstorm traps town residents together inside the local inn, where newly arrived forest ranger Finn and postal worker Cecily must try to keep the peace and uncover the truth behind a mysterious creature that has begun terrorizing the community.

======

WolfCop - Free on Freevee

Comedy and Horror again. Has some gory scenes but still a comedy. Cop realizes he has become a werewolf.
