I am watching a game right now and I saw that we had 4 defensive linemen,
but we also had 2 linebackers, and 5 defensive backs?

Nickel defense out of the base 4-3.

That's a nickel. But that may have been for only one game or for a stretch of a game. IIRC, Dallas used the 4-3 "Miami" in '96.

Rich.......

Its weird I have never seen a team start on nickel defense.
I also saw George Teague was wearing #30 instead of #31.

Edit: Brock Marion was also on the team, he was wearing #31

Dallas had some interesting formations all right, I think what you saw was Jimmy's way of saying bring on your runing game because you will not do it passing. Then made it stick. (%

Except Jimmy wasn't around in 96. We had the bootlickers boy.

The 4-2-5 is a base line defense for some college teams. It is similar to a nickel defense instead of bringing on a 3rd corner, teams use what they call a weak safety. That is just useless knowledge on here, and has nothing to do with what Dallas did in 96.
