As a central PA native and huge Penn State fan all I can say that may be the reason why is that's he's a bit reckless and takes too many chances.

  • Noticeable delay in transitions from press.
  • Struggles to slide and match release quickness.
  • Not twitchy enough to match a complex route.

Unless there are off the field issues I think he’s just this years big slider.

I’d be shocked if he’s still on the board when we pick…a press man heavy team has to scoop him up.

there was a report that as a child of a NFL star he has never really had that "drive".

hard for a kid growing up affluent to have the same desire as someone who has had to work for everything their entire life.

Gonzalez going after Forbes makes even less sense to me. He's the total athletic package at a position the NFL desperately needs. You don't expect guys like that to fall.

Belichick will make him a star.

Gonzalez went to the right team. Probably be an All Pro in a couple years.

It’s the difference between internet boards v actual team evaluations.

That’s why it’s a waste of time to argue about which picks are a reach. The level of detail and competitive intelligence these teams get is 1000% more detailed & accurate than the info offered to the general public. The draft is not that different than an election. Information is used as a weapon to accomplish a purpose. It would be counter productive to make your intentions known. The entire draft is an exercise in psy-ops.

I said I smelled misdirection with all the Mayer talk but was told Dallas doesn’t do misdirection. Yet, we ended up taking a player that few predicted and who got very little media attention. Kudos to Dallas for keeping a lid on their intentions.

I think teams draft personality at CB more than any other position - its part of why, right or wrong, Witherspoon went so high. Forbes has a better disposition and is a "tougher" player than Gonzalez. I wouldn't have done that, but there's a logic to it.

I also think that if Forbes can put on 20 lbs, he's got as much upside as anyone in the class. There isn't a huge gap between the two players, so a lot of it just comes down to those intangibles.
