What ever happened to this option?? Every summer they tell us something, and we never see it, or see it a few times and that's it!!

I think we're thinking this two back system thing out too much! Put Pollard as a WR it's not that hard, we're just not creative and it's upsetting! It doesn't take much. I swear I can't wait to see what these players do on other teams, hey Coop #2

  • The team never tells us "something" on this subject.
    • It's always speculation by media and fans.
  • In 2021:
    • RB Tony Pollard: 39 catches with 374 snaps played.
    • 4th WR Cedrick Wilson: 45 catches with 528 snaps played.
  • Catches Per 100 Snaps Played in 2021
    • 10.4 …...... Tony Pollard
    • 9.0 …......... CeeDee Lamb
    • 8.5 …......... Cedrick Wilson
    • 8.2 …......... Amari Cooper
    • 7.9 …......... Dalton Schultz
    • 7.0 …......... Michael Gallup

I'd like to see him and Zeke in the backfield at the same time. Pollard can run the route Zeke can stay in to block or run. Pollard will command respect and can pull a player or two from the box.

Dept of target is the frustrating part. It's been said plenty of times, you use speed to run up the field or across the field. Pollard was the fastest player on this team for the last 3 years and many say he hasn't been used correctly in that time. Dump-offs to Pollard are good, but some of us want to see more.

Uh yeah, because that’s what it is… a gimmick play that you run on occasion. I think either Broaddus or Entman or whoever did a whole q&a answer where he basically said it was delusional to think a RB was going to be a better route runner, than a WR as a long term slot option!

Pollard has lined up in the slot, but as usual with the Cowboys, it’s just window dressing—Lito stick on a pig that is the Cowboys offense under Moore.

  • In college:
    • Pollard was a hybrid WR/RB:
    • Pollard was one of the best I've seen turning dump-off type passes into big gains.
    • As a normal route runner, he was average at best.
    • Tampa Bay played defense to limit intermediate to long passes.
      • The weak areas in their coverage was in the short area.
      • Dump-off passes to elusive runners with elite speed are perfect for playing against they type of coverage.
    • I have not reviewed the Bengals coverage; therefore, I will not comment on that game with regards to this topic.

Pollard is a RB ... not a WR ,...

Use him as a pass catching RB ... ala Austin Eckler, Aaron Jones ...Nyheim Hines

Help develop him to be prolific and effective as a pass catching back. Pollard would be deadly TNT on quick RB screens with pulling OL in space
to clear the way, ..but Kellen is horrible at designing- developing RB screens .....

I doubt he knows the route tree.

Hopefully they will give him more chances.
He was a great receiver in Collage, and has done well as a Pro too.

Thread starter is asking why we don’t see Pollard get more snaps at WR considering the lack of quality WRs on the roster.

1. You posted a bunch of stats that support his stance. Pollard is very effective on a per snap basis at WR.
2. What are his receiving numbers this year? The 2021 numbers were with Amari and Ced Wilson. He should be getting even more production this year right?

I thought you'd use him in the slot he could take a short pass and devastate a defense.
One of the things that makes me crazy with our offensive brain trust

Two games is a small sample size for 2022.

Pollard
- A rate of 16.7 catches per 100 snaps in the Bengals game.
- His average for that stat last season was about 10.
- He had 13.75 yards per catch vs the Bengals.
- That is a good receiving avg yards for a RB.
- He only had 2 catches in the Bucs game which puts his season avg rate at 9.7 per 100 snaps.
