Re-watching the game... and I'm sure this may have been discussed but I haven't seen it yet

I realize that the prior play he defended a deep go route against Steve Smith...

then he sprints 27 yards or so after the pic....

but why was he so gassed? This is by no means a bash or be critical of T-new thread.. just wondering.. ? After celebrating with teammates in the endzone, he barely made it back to the sidelines and when he did he was on all fours as if he was gasping for his life?

I even think he got oxygen. and then sat out several plays of the next series... it just looked a little out of the ordinary for a world class athlete...

thoughts on that?

I thought Newman got hurt on the play when he was tackled.

It looked like his teammates beat him up. I couldn't see exactly what happened, but it was during the celebration.

I thought it was the way he was tackled by Smitty going into the endzone.

ok interesting... because as soon as he was tackled he popped right up and jumped about ten feet in the air throwing the ball up as he was grabbed by Hamlin in celebration. Just a weird series of events.. maybe something happened during the celebration?

According to DMN David Moore, nothing's wrong with him.

Said just before the INT, he'd just sprinted 60 yards following Steve Smith.. and then the return for 27, and the overexuberrant celebration by his teammates.

Just needed oxygen.

Ok.. makes sense... he did show some Jets pulling away from Steve Smith and getting in..

I am really starting to wonder about our strength and conditioning coaches. Why are all of our guys gassed by the time the 4th quarter rolls around???

I am not just talking about Newman, in the Giants game our D-line had their tounges dragging on the ground on that last drive by the Giants.

I know Wade talked about not having enough guys for a rotation and stuff, but it still seems weird why all of our guys are just sucking air at the end of almost every game.

Maybe we need a new strenght and conditioning coach that emphasizes cardio or something.

first he covered him 50+ yards down the field. Then he sprints from the 27 yard line. This is after running all game as well. You're allowed to be winded...

Exactly. It wasn't about 1 play. Put the two plays back to back, along with that celebration cause they'd sealed the game, and yeah pretty much just about every athlete is going to need a little breather right there.

My theory is that all defenders stop breathing during fumble/INT returns. Only way to explain why they ALL need oxygen after scoring touchdowns, regardless of who it is.

Only partially joking.

It sure does seem like it - it's like they get so excited they hold their breath until they get to the sidelines are realize that the play/touchdown/celebration is over.

Who else is tired of this "Pic Six" term being used? I know i'm not crazy as i've been following football sinice the late 70s, but i've only heard this Pic six stuff for the last few weeks.

Been used for a couple years now. The other movement is to rename it "TAINT" (Touchdown after INT), but I don't like that one.
