What Jerry needs to do (but won't), vs. what I think Jerry shouldn't do (but will)

I think that Jerry really believed that we actually had a shot to win it all this year. The NFC was wide open with no real dominant team; so maybe he had a right to think this. I think the team is close to a deep playoff run, and Jerry should step aside and name Will McClay as the GM. We all know that will never happen. Jerry and Stephen will reflect over the next 48 hours, and I think Mike McCarthy will eventually be fired; even though he shouldn't. Stephen stated, at the end of last season, that a successful season this year would be nothing less than a deep playoff run. Well, the deep playoff run ended in the divisional round. The report is that Jerry had already negotiated a trade with New Orleans for Sean Peyton. That fell through because of the New Orleans Pelicans trading their star player, Anthony Davis. Sean Peyton is now available. There is no way that Jerry is not, in the very near future, going to have a conversation with New Orleans about what it will take to get Sean Peyton.

This is a real question not snark. What do you think Will would do as GM that he is not doing now? If Jerry didn’t like something he was doing, do you not think Jerry would override it?

I believe rumors say the Saints want at least two firsts for Payton. We’re not doing that.

I really thought this was going to be a losing season based on the offseason moves last year, I was wrong obviously. I don’t know who gets credit for that but you have to give some of it to Mike whether he actually deserves it or not.

Seeing as how we are stuck with Dak you can go one of three ways, business as usual which will fail. You can draft a QB high and let them compete for the starting spot which Jerry won’t do because he hasn’t done it in 34 years. Or you try and load elite talent around Dak on both sides that can compensate for his short comings.

Cap space is limited and we have young guys that are going to be commanding big contracts here soon so option one is most likely. They will add value players in the off-season and it will be a carbon copy Dak Prescott type season.

We have to start letting talent walk…can’t pay all of Schultz, Pollard, then also Ceedee and Diggs and then thinking about Parsons next year. Honestly, I think this window (if it was one) is over and we’d be better off trading off talent for picks and starting over. Dak will never get us any farther without a roster that looks like ‘92 and now we can never afford to surround him with that. It’s over.

The team is paralyzed by Dak's contract until 2024.
Big Mike isn't going anywhere.

We definitely let Diggs walk. His postseason performance speaks for itself and I'm not too thrilled with his play during the season either.

That's a lot of assumptions for one post, and I pretty much disagree with all of them. We'll see.

What I think Jerry needs to do but won't.........Hire a GM to go through the entire years film from start to finish and have him evaluate the coaching and the players. Then allow him 3 years to correct the issues, this way Jerry can fire him if he doesn't succeed. This person needs the ability to hire and fire coaches, players and have huge impact on drafts and FA. He can't be part of the family and can't consider any of the players or coaches family or friend. He needs to start hiring the "right" people not quasi family.

What I think Jerry shouldn't do but will.......He will do exactly what he has done for the last xxxx years. Since he speaks media, he will tell everyone in a politically correct salesman way that this is his team, he can do with it whatever he wants, so fans bend over smile and enjoy a repeat. You do not have any control over what he does as long as he keeps making $$$$$, just enjoy because it's like the weather.
