1st - Just can't see them pulling the trigger in 1st even if one of the top 4 fall. I would however take a trade back if that did occur

2nd - Hooker - earliest I would consider it, but seems like he isn't going to make it to our 2nd. No other QBs worth it in this round

3rd - McKee - but chances are he goes in the 2nd

4th - not really sold on any of the others to make the pick here

5th - O'Connell, Hall, Tune and DTR - with DTR being my pick out of the 3

6th and 7th - Duggan and Bennett would be the late round picks

5th Round

I like Clayton Tune as a 5th round project...

but after watching film on Dorian Thompson-Robinson, oh yeah, he would be good as well. Actually, better. Definitely worth a 4th round pick.

I wouldn't target one until the sixth or seventh. Need to develop a backup and if he develops into something more than that, that's great. Too many more pressing things to get done to take one before then unless the player is just that much better value than players at other positions.

Equal value, I have RB, OL, DT, TE, LB, K all higher on my shopping list than QB.

The Cowboys had a private workout with Aidan O'Connell of Purdue, brought in Clayton Tune of Houston for a private visit, and interviewed Max Duggan of TCU at the Combine, as well as making him a Dallas Day participant. So that is three QB's we know of that the Cowboys have been connected with.

The highlights are nice but I sure wish I had been able to watch the rest of his play to see how often he isn't able to hit his receiver in stride and make the perfect reads. I guess the one knock is that he doesn't seem to have the strongest arm but when has our team had one of those qb's??? Thanks for the links.

DTR is my guy.

I’d take him in the 4th if I didn’t feel like I could get him in the 5th.

If one of the top 4 fall to 26 the Cowboys should RUN not walk to the podium with their pick and get that QB.

That would open up all kinds of possibilities. All good ones.
You realize we can't trade Prescott right? So we would basically have to sit our first rounder in the bench until we were able to cut him

Same here.

Would love a different change of pace at QB. Would be nice having a guy with some speed at QB.

I believe they go Aidan O’Connell though. He’s similar to Rush. Smart kid, not great arm strength and doesn’t run.

I wouldn’t be targeting any of them in a specific round. I would rate them all and put them on the board just like all other players. Then I would assess my options at each pick and if a QB was the best combination of value and need, I would take one no matter what round it was. The one thing I would not do Is draft a QB for the sole purpose of being a backup. You already have two of those types and they are available at any time. If I am drafting a QB, I must believe he can be a starter in the NFL and his ceiling is one you can win a championship with. If not, I’d rather take someone at another position who I think can contribute on the field. I’m never wasting draft capital on anyone I see as just a backup. If I’m drafting a QB, it’s with the belief he can develop into my starter and get me out of the $50 million a year nightmare or that he will bring me back better draft picks in 2 or 3 years when I trade him. If I don’t think they are capable of that, I’m keeping what I have and/or looking at the undrafted guys or guys playing in other leagues.
