What the heck is wrong with the DC website?

Two years ago I used to watch a lot of daily shows (well, one was good and one was bad). I rarely had any problem streaming the videos directly from DallasCowboys.com. Then they moved to their new headquarters and it was obvious they didn't have nearly the same bandwidth. It became impossible to watch them live. I also didn't bother watching because the shows were awful but that's besides the point. Tonight I decided to check out some of the Draft Shows but I can't get a single video to load tonight. Nothing but spinning wheels. I'm very worried I won't be able to watch the Draft Show during the draft as it has by far the best coverage of any option out there. Does anyone else have this issue?

I've made sure flash was enable, no popup blocking, and different browsers all to no avail. To me it seems to be a severe lack bandwidth. If I was with the Dallas Cowboys IT staff I would be ashamed. If they're not going to pay for bandwidth at least push the videos out to Facebook where they would be accessible.

Probably too many people trying to watch them at the same time.

Did you try their mobile app?

Good call. I didn't think of that. Videos are working fine on the app. I really don't want to have to use the app for the draft but it appears to be a good option. It still doesn't change the fact that their online streaming is horrible.

I watched all of the draft shows and I think they had a couple technical issues posting them later. (not live versions).

I would say the live versions have gotten better the last month or so. Before they would start lagging about halfway into the show. I have not had tat issue lately

Now on occasion they will not start on time and when that happens it looks like it is having trouble loading but once it started I had no problem.

With that said I forgot the one tonight but I think it was not at the Star but at some local place and I don't see it uploaded yet. So maybe that one had problems.

If you are on a phone or tablet your better off using the app. I normally watch or listen to it on a pc at work without problem.

I’m Wondering if all their focus was on the app then with minimal oversight over the regular version.

I doubt the Dallas Cowboys host their own videos, at least not from a streaming standpoint. They are probably streamed via the NFL's network which likely uses Akamai or some other streaming CDN service.

Websites rarely host their own videos any more because of bandwidth costs and server requirements. Instead, they tend to use CDN's that cache and deliver/stream the videos through regional servers closest to the users.

The real issue that media-driven companies have is their focus is on control and protecting their content first and end-user experience second.

Yeah,it’s been that way for awhile. It works better on their app, which is where they’ve directed their site focus, but the video loads are awful. I’ve been on the just audio only diet, for like 2 years now I think? I don’t understand what the hell is sooooo hard about streaming video for them? It’s like if you’re on “1 bar” connection out in the desert or something.

If you have roku or anything similar you might want to check for the Cowboys app on them as well.

By the way, watching the live Cowboys Break right now on my computer. Working fine.

Simple answer, the people that own it and the people that run it. It is representative of their record over the last 20 years.

Everything that once was good about the Dallas Cowboys is a shell of it's former self.

If you have a decent connection and a PC or Laptop...you should have no problem at all watching it from the site.

I do it at work without a problem.

Yesterday evening I loaded up the Draft Press Conference on a laptop that I have hooked up via HDMI cables to my TV.
Watched the presser without a problem.
