What will Quinn do to replace Lewis?

I originally thought the the team will just use Bland to replace Jourdan Lewis as the team's nickel cornerback. However, there is a scenario many haven't discussed, Anthony Brown:

-He won the slot corner competition multiple times under different defensive coaches.
-Kelvin Joseph was a high draft pick that was expected to become an starting outside corner at some point.

It's very possible that both Brown and Lewis are playing elsewhere next season as Brown is a fa and there is an out in Lewis's contract. Joseph and Bland would be their likely replacements, unless they use another high draft pick at the position.

Probably whoever shows better at practice between Bland and Joseph will get the nod with Brown moving around as needed.

Main thing is we have some legit option in my opinion. Bland has seen some playing time, his best outing vs Washington were he had 3 tackles and an int. Would not rule out Jospeh getting some playing time. You also have Sheffield who was drafted by Quinn when he was HC in Atlanta

Maybe try Bland and Joseph in the slot. And then work on what is best over the bye week.
This was only one moving part to replace Lewis.
Otherwise if you move Brown to the slot, which he has played well before, then Joseph and / Bland at CB, that is 2 moving parts.

Don't forget about Nashon Wright, can he play the slot. But he is handsy and may get penalties as well as get beat. I do not want him at CB.
But just putting his name into the mix.

Not hard to replace a JAG. Bland is better anyway. Our team will improve when they do it.

Sounds like fat man’s boss or whatever will get the call.

Hey maybe Wright will finally dress.

I'd really like to see what KJ can do with this opportunity. If not now, when then? We are 1 1/2 years in to his career and I feel it's crossroads time for the young man.

I want to cheer hard for him and hope the opportunity comes his way................and for him to grab it and never look back.

As a second round pick, Bossmanfat should have pushed Anthony Brown off a ledge already with his play and allowed the cowboys to bench him or move on. The fact he hasn't been able to do that means one of two things. The Staff feels Anthony Brown is playing at high level or Bossmanfat has not impressed in practice.

Bland's earned the shot. He has done nothing but ball.

Kelvin Joseph is a rocket down the sideline, but I don't see him having the quickness to match two-way gos from the slot.
Joseph would be on the outside with Brown in the slot.

Don't go giving him any ideas.

I think it's tough to convince a coaching staff to replace a starter unless they feel he's playing poorly. I don't think we expected Brown to play as well as he did last year. That made it harder for Joseph to supplant him. That Joseph wasn't all that good in the preseason made it even tougher. I do think he's done OK in the regular season when given the chance. It's just hard to get those chances unless the starter blows.

Joseph is shining on special teams, and maybe just needs a chance to do it on defense as well. I don't think he'll get that chance here because he's the primary backup on the outside while Bland is the primary backup in the slot. I don't think we'd move Brown to the slot unless Bland struggles.

Next man up. Believe Bland played the slot against WAS so probably him.

Would love to see Kelvin play and have a great game. He needs it.

Yeah, you can tell he really wants to contribute. I actually like that about KJ. He's hungry.

Interesting. I wasn't aware we got Sheffield back. Apparently, he's on the PS.

Yeah signed same day as Hankins. Signed to PS but I think he will likely be called up at some point

I think both will play. Joseph and Bland will rotate while Brown goes to slot when Joseph is in and stays outside when Bland plays. The Cowboys media swears it’s Bland all the way so we will find out Sunday.

Don’t know if Nashon has the short area quickness to handle slot, although he has very good straight line speed.

Well, at least Jerry is being proactive.

Quinn said Bland in the video posted in another thread...

Bland is so much better than Joseph.

Bland is the real deal.
