What would you do?

Lets say the Cleveland Browns pick ends up being the #4 pick in the draft and the New England Patriots have a player targeted they want to move up to get.

The Patriots make an offer to give us both their 1st round picks which probably will be somewhere around #15-20 and #27-31. That would give us 3 1st round picks, but all in the last half of the first round.

Would you do it??

Obvioulsy we do not know things like what player would be there at #4 and things like that, but just off picks alone would you make the deal?

Interesting question, but not a valid question as per your last line of the post. We would have to know who was available before considering the trade. Also, three first rounders woul be great, but what is the salary cap hit going to be? Can we afford it?

For the two 1sts alone, no I wouldn't. If there was a sweetener in the deal, I might consider it. You have to play a price to get that high in the Draft.

I wouldn't do it unless they gave a whole lot. That team is already too damned good to need a top 5 pick to come in and make them better.

Why are so many people interested in the 2008 draft when we haven't even been to training camp this year yet?

Let's see how this season pans out first before we start making plans for next year's draft. Anything you think will happen right now won't be valid next April.

I love the draft, it is a down time.
I was lying in my bed last night trying to go to sleep, and was thinking about the possibilities. This came to my head, and like most I did not think I would do it, but I wanted to get some opinions.

The draft is pretty much year around for me. I watch the whole college season looking at players with the draft in mind. This year may be one of the best years in a long time in regards to talent in the first round.

That is why!

With that Clevelenad pick possibly being so high and another 1st round pick it could be the most exciting draft in years for me.

I will be running things through my head from now until Mid April of next year.
And I definetly will be watching a lot of AFC North Ball this year. I love it.

Not unless they threw in a #1 pick in 2009 also;)

I don't think that trade works out right, considering the draft value chart.

But beyond that, it sure would be tough to move out of the first 7 to 10 top picks.

As long as we are imagining scenerios here - the one that has crossed my mind is what happens if the Cowboys are positioned such that they can:

Draft McFadden or trade out of the pick, still get Steve Slaton and their top WR prospect (their pick of Early Doucet, DeSean Jackson, Manningham, Limas Weed, or whoever).

Limas Weed?

No, we don't need anyone on the Cowboy roster with the last name "Weed"!!

Let him go to the AFL2 BattleWings!!

It's not going to surprise me a bit for us to have to trade up (with the Raiders) for McFadden. So, trading down, doesn't seem realistic, unless the guy we target (I'm hoping Mcfadden) won't be available. With that being said, I don't think I would give up anymore than our OWN two 1sts to get him.
