This was dinner tonight at work. Now I need a nap. In addition to food, we get severl other perks. What perks does your job offer?

:)

Broccoli sucks rear-end.

I am a self-employed cattle rancher so we don't net as much money as many but the perks are to die for.

No traffic jams and our nearest neighbors are almost a mile away so we can't see or hear them although we can sometimes see their lights at night or smell the smoke from their fireplace when the wind is right.

The peaceful tranquility is something city dwellers simply cannot comprehend. In the winter sometimes the only sound you can hear is your own breathing and in the spring the wildflowers and wildlife are breathtakingly beautiful. We no longer even feel the need for radio or TV - I watch football via streaming video online.

We raise most of our own food so we know exactly what is in it and what isn't. Sure there are a lot of long hours of very hard work but it's worth it to us. Money isn't everything; life is for living. I'm retired now so I only work about 12 hours a day.

City folk may think we're nuts but we think they're nuts so it works out about even.

Silence is golden and life is good.

Not at all. In fact, I feel a little envy coming on. My mothers family were farmers and we went there all the time when I was a kid. My memories are exactly as you describe. Reminds me of the saying....you can take the kid out of the country but you can't take the country out of the kid. It is so true.
