After another troubling performance against an inferior team, there is again much consternation within the fan base about what it means. This raises the broader question of just what the goal for this season is?
With the kind of sloppy performance we saw last night, and with the exception of the Philly game much of the last month, winning three straight road games in the playoffs to make the Super Bowl seems a tall order. So absent that, what would make this a successful season--good enough that McCarthy earns the right to another season and the Payton rumours can be put to rest?
Making the NFC Championship game?
One playoff win on the road?
Or have we already met our goals with our second double digit win season in a row, as many of you like to cite in defense of McCarthy?
