A cold sore.

At least cankers are on the inside, not an ugly open wound on your lip. Like mine is.

I'll post pics later. I had two apthous ulcers (canker sores) on the back of my throat the size of DIMES. So painful.

I loathe canker sores.

I used to get canker sores all the time. I now take a daily probiotic and their occurrence has reduced drastically.

Taking Lysine at the first sign of, and for the duration of, cold sores works wonders.

I used to get them fairly regularly. Lysene at the first sign as mentioned definitely helps. But the thing that has helped me the most is Burt's Bee's chapstick. I swear there is some magical ingredient in there. I apply it whenever my lips start to get dry or when I feel a tingle. I can't remember the last time I had a noticeable one since I started using it.

I'll definitely try those both. I usually keep some Abreva on hand.

Luckily, I only get it a few times a year and it's usually stress related, either from not enough rest or actual stress.

If you want to get rid of a canker sore fast, rub some Alum (get it in any stores bakery isle) on it for 2 days. It will be dried up by the 3rd day.

Oh btw: Don't do it if you can't handle the pain. It feels like liquid fire for about a minute, but man does it feel better after that.

Reading your posts is much worse than canker sores.

(I'm kidding, come on, you set yourself up for that!)

I get them when I'm stressed out, or with some acidic foods.

I usually get this stuff called Kank-A. It stings but it puts a layer of medicine over it and numbs it.
