I made a thead after the Ravens game that the next 3 games would define us as a team. I feel they did just that. This is a team that will beat teams they are supposed to, but will get bullied against teams even slightly better than them. Even the teams we are supposed to beat, we wont blow them out like last year. Detroit was a NFCCG team last year, but getting jobbed as bad as we did validates the NOLA disaster. If we didn't crap the bed as bad as we did yesterday, the Saints game could have been viewed as a fluke. No, thats who we are
Here are some thoughts on the season going forward.
-This teams ceiling is 9-8. Floor I think is 7-10. How they split the 4 Philadelphia/Washington games will likely determine the difference. 0-4 there is a distinct possibility
- I think they need to bench Steele and play Guyton at RT. Guyton at RT and Smith at LT is how it should be going foward. Smith is the guy that is going to be the leader of this line after Martin leaves. I dont think Guyton has LT upside that Smith doesnt, and Guytons draft position isnt too high for an RT. Sewell was a top 10 pick and plays RT. Use the rest of the season as an audition for Bass as a starter.
- Tolbert should be the #2 when Cooks is healthy. Cooks has been bad and Tolbert has proven to be the better player. Not sold on Tolbert as a real #2, but he is our 2nd best WR
- The defensive line has been hit by injuries, but they got bullied against NO and Baltimore when healthy. Injuries are no excuse, this is a bad unit. Smith has showed some improvement, but this team desperately needs to get better in the offseason.
- I watched the TB game yesterday, Bucky Irving should have been our second 3rd rounder. If they are serious about having a decent run game this year, Elliott wont play again. They arent and he will
- Piggy backing in an idea from @Cowboyny , Id trade Wilson for whatever and give Thomas as look as a starter. Id play Bell at SS on run downs. Wilson doesnt a ton of value, but he'll give you another late round dart
