I'm only looking at WR free agents right now and a few come to mind as being on the safer side and line up with our philosophy is bargain shopping.

Feel free to discuss any positions, though. I'll discuss players who I think have a shot at being targeted by the Cowboys, at one point or another.

N'keal Harry, former 2019 first-round pick, and the Bears are reportedly unlikely to sign him. Some said Harry was a bust, but he's flashed at moments and is a big, physical receiver like Noah Brown. I can see him fitting in here, especially if he's willing to block. And he probably has more upside than Noah Brown.

There's also Marvin Jones of the Jaguars. He played there on the "team's most friendly" deal of 2022. I could see it working out for the Cowboys if he were to do something similar here.

The Chiefs are also expected to let Byron Pringle hit free agency.

Allen Lazard believes he may have played his last game as a Packer.

JuJu Smith Schuster is expected to sign with the Chiefs, but it's not unheard of for the Cowboys to make players an offer.

And, of course, there's T.Y. Hilton, who we had on the squad last year for a few games.

I thought people in here wanted comp picks?

We're probably better off not signing anyone, try to ditch bad contracts while we wait to escape Dak, tank for best draft picks, and try to start a rebuild in 2 or 3 years.

Any QB who can make all the throws and can protect the football.

Because I’d like to go back to the Super Bowl.

Purdy has as many wins in one year of the playoffs as Dak in 7 years.

I’ve seen enough. Time to move on.

It's slim pickings in FA at WR.
Very, but these are the veteran depth guys available, which shows how important WR should be to us. I think we need a WR, and a corner.

Resign Pollard for no more than 3 years $8,000,000.00 per. If not let him go...no big deal.
.
Get Lamar Jackson, if not, I'll settle for Garoppolo for couple of years....
Geno Smith...maybe...iffy...no.
.
Go after Hargrave. Cowboys need a DT/NG.
Orlando Brown...to solidify the OL
.
Knowing Jerry, he won't even try...He loves to go dumpster diving....

f/a wr's i like:
☆obj...he's at the top of the list.
my only concern is locker-room dynamics...but if thats not a concern...he's my first target.
☆dj chark,detroit...i liked him in that draft.
he's young...talented.
☆sterling shepherd,nyg...another player i liked coming out...sooner pairing with ceedee.
☆n'keal harry,chicago...i'm a sucker for big receivers.
i liked him at az st but he hasn't been as impactful as i thought he would by now.
yet his size and talent i remember at az state still intrigues me.
☆juju smith-schuster,kc...liked him at usc...and i believe he was a 30 visit so we had some interest in him as a prospect.
he made comments last off-season about wanting to play here and team up with dak.
so...i'd find out if that intetest is real.

the rest i've seen don't do much for me...and i'm not sure if they'd be better than what we had this past season.

but the ones on my wish-list...save maybe harry...i think are better.
harry is a big, physical receiver that maybe is a late bloomer.
but it starts with obj.
just my opinion.

  • Jonathan Hankins
  • Daron Parne
  • Dalvin Tomlinson
With the market for WR's (weak FA and recent overpriced contracts) I'd rather not look at expensive WRs and instead sign a cheap vet and draft a guy early-ish. TY Hilton makes a lot of sense from as it wouldn't cancel a comp pick.

So . . . JuJu Smith Schuster, OBJ, and CeeDee?

I think Chark is expected to re-sign with the Lions.

Getting a FA wideout .. just for the sake of getting a WR ?

Have we not learn anything from the James Washington FA disaster ?

Whether FA or trade, if you are going use the FA tool to upgrade your team (ala AJ Brown to Eagles) ... then go for the big dollar, the big gutso. that are more likely
to have juice left to help your team.

JuJu was serviceable and still young, but he's more of a stop gap untll the Chiefs find better.
Marvin Jones and Randall Cobb are in that older 32-33 age range and that's on the level of a Hilton. That's an immediate band-aid. Nuthin' more.

Frankly I'm not the biggest fan of Brandin Cooks, but he is viewed as one of the premiere pure speed WRs in the NFL.

- Besides re-signing LVE to a 2-3 yr, protective, cap friendly deal,.. he's decent/serviceable- we're very likely to go hunting for another Barr like bargain vet LB

- Damone Clark is in the future mix. per offseason program, coach up and film work.

- Forget Jabrail Cox - i doubt he's on the team in 2023; they missed on this one, very rarely plays, and i think they are low regards on him.
my guess work is he is either way too finesse oriented.. or there's issues with assignments .. (or both ?)

- I do wonder what future holds for Harper who IR'ed this season from an achilles tendon injury. Special teamer or a pet project late bloomer expectations? .

- Luke Gifford is purely special teamer, amazingly he finally stayed healthy.

- Would be terrific to discover a Fred Warner type in this draft. and Warner reportedly was a Cowboys consideration at draft time (ditto the other gem LB Andrew Greenland)

I don't think WR is their biggest need.
It's about 3rd or 4th on the list.

It wasn't their biggest need when they drafted CeeDee Lamb,, with both Amari and Gallup already on the roster at the time.

But per according to the value of their draft board, they thought he was just far too good to pass up, ..way head and shoulders distance than the
next group of draftees left on the their board.
