Portal 2 or Mortal Kombat?

I know Portal 2 is a very good game, but Mortal Kombat is Mortal Kombat. It is what it is.

Have you played either of these games and what do you think about them?

Thanks!

I refuse to answer this thread on the grounds that it is improperly titled. It should be titled: Portal 2 Vs Mortal Kombat. :D

JK, I'll go with Mortal Kombat.

:laugh2:

Thought I'd give a break on the vs. Threads

What actually IS the Mortal Kombat story mode? Is it just fighting tournaments?

From what I have heard Portal2 pwns everything out right now, pretty much a cinch to get game of the year for many of the game reviewers. I actually have Portal for PS3 and have never played it.

You should really put Portal in the PS3 and give it a go. The puzzles are really clever, and get more and more so as you advance in the game. And the story/antagonist commentary is freakin hilarious. And for the record, yeah Portal 2 is amazing, game of the year is a possibility, but we have 3/4 of a year to go, and some fantastic games such as LA Noire coming soon.

Interesting. I thought more people would go with MK. What is Portal 2 exactly about?

Portal, and I only watched someone playing it. Hilarious humor.

Portal is a puzzle/movement game. It has a pretty amusing story, if you like that sort of thing.

It's an extremely clever puzzle game created by some kids in their garage. The game was so impressive Valve hired the kids and put them to work on a full scale sequel.

Basically, the games protagonist is a silent chick and wakes up in this place called Aperture science. You have a robot voice guiding you putting you through these "tests", which start out very mundane, easy and benign. As you progress the tests get harder and harder with more and more complex mechanics involved. As you continue completing quests you annoy the malevolent robot overseeing your testing more and more. Her dry and very sarcastic commentary is hilarious and spawned numerous internet memes and nerd one liners, the most famous being "the cake is a lie". It eventually gets to the point where she is very much trying to kill you with each test. It's definitely something I suggest anyone who likes to have their mind challenged check out.

Ive never heard of or played Portal 2 but Mortal Kombat is awesome, haven't played it in years though.

I was a little leary of Mortal Kombat because usually those types of games are not worth $60 IMO, even if it has very good reviews.

Portal 2 reviews really suprised me. THAT looks like a $60 game, does it not? Might be my choice.

Portal 2 got boring in about an hour of play. Im not a little puzzle guy.

I'll take MK over P2 anyday.

My son and I have been playing pretty much every evening. Great game.

MK is just all around fun either tower/story/1v1/2v2 w/e...great game.

There's so much content in the new MK that it's easily worth 60$, it's an absolute must if you where ever a MK fan

Everyone seems to love portal, games like that give me motion sickness so i can't really play or comment on it

You know your old when your son begins to teach you all of the fatalities of every single character in the new MK. :(

That "used" to be me. :(

Tell him to teach me because I don't know how to do a fatality. I bought the game and don't really know how to do a fatality. Can someone help?

I can post a few tonight once I get home. I would post them here but games are all filtered on our network.

I have been bouncing around between 4-5 characters.

My runt is a huge fan of Johnny Cage and Scorpion. He usually beats me if he's playing any of those 2, but I'll get him w/ Liu Kang soon. ........

Not to mention Gears of War 3 to be released in September. I've had that dang thing reserved for over a year.

That would normally be pretty high on my wish list but with Mass Effect 3, LA Noire , Uncharted 3, Deus Ex 3 and Skyrim all coming out this year it drops down quite far

Good lord. Game of the year? GoW3 won't even be game of the year.

There is this little game called Diablo 3 that is to fire up this fall. If that happens.....

Portal WHAT?....What is a portal? :D Mass Effect 3 is also coming this fall.

Let's keep it all in perspective here folks.
