Did 2016 Dallas or 2024 Washington have the Better Team Going into their Playoffs? (Read Post 66)

Who had the superior playoff-caliber team during their rookie season?

Very close but that Washington team edged it out.

Daniel's roster had the overall talent and coaching to step it up as a team to make it to the NFCC game.

The 16' Cowboys team stepped it up, but had the bad luck of forcing Aaron into making one of the best throws the game has ever seen. We haven't seen a team play like that in the playoffs since then... shame.

So a teams playoff record doesn’t matter? You determine the better team by who had the better regular season record and the most All-Pros. Why not just award the Lombardi trophy at the end of the regular season and not even bother having the playoffs? lol
“So a teams playoff record doesn’t matter?”

That’s. Not. The. Question.

Anyone who’s been following the Cowboys the past couple of decades knows they’re a different team in the regular season then they are in the playoffs. The Cowboys have had some great regular season teams but it’s been a different story once they get to the playoffs. They begin to fade late in the regular season and even though they’re still winning games, they’re ugly wins. They end up limping into the playoffs and getting beat. The last playoff team we had against Green Bay during the 2023 season looked nothing like the Cowboys teams we saw during the regular season that year.

The team was riding a 16 game home winning streak when they got blown out to Green Bay. It was the same thing in 2016. We looked terrific during the regular season, including an 11 game winning streak. We even beat Green Bay at Lambeau that season. The Cowboys have rarely won a game at Lambeau Field during their entire history but in the playoffs against Green Bay at home we folded.

The question was which QB headed the best playoff team. So you’re saying the Cowboys had a better “playoff team” in 2016 than Washington had last season? Sorry, but the Cowboys had a better “regular season team” in 2016 than Washington had in 2024. Our playoff team went one and done in 2016 while Washington’s playoff team made it to the NFC championship game. They even blew out the number one seed on the road that had won 15 games.

Your choice: Jayden Daniels/2024 Washington Commanders or Dak Prescott/2016 Dallas Cowboys.

Edit/Clarifying addendum: Which of two choices had the better roster and potential of winning their respective Super Bowls entering the playoffs?
Maybe misunderstanding but there's no question in my mind. Watch this throws and movement of Daniels

We just haven’t been able to stop the run since , Ken Norton Junior

Not questioning your observation of Daniels but would point out the poll emphasizes the team over the quarterback. This is just a suggestion. Subtract both quarterbacks from the conversation and re-evaluate based on that assumption.

You don’t have an agenda like the person you’re discussing with
Why would Eagles fans have any agenda on this topic? Do you think we’re happy to have a guy like Daniels in this division?

The Cowboys had a dominant offensive line and Zeke. They were the number #1 seed going into the playoffs. The question is not about which team played better in their respective playoffs. The question is going into the playoffs, which team was expected to have the best chance to succeed based on their rosters. Cowboys by a mile.

The post was edited after I had already read it and began posting. In that case, we did have the better roster and potential of winning the Super Bowl entering the playoffs. The 2016 Cowboys were the number one seed with 13 wins and had home-field throughout the playoffs. While Washington was a wildcard in 2024. They were going to have to get past a 15 win and 14 win team on the road to reach the Super Bowl. They were facing some long odds.

Defense is part of the team and that’s what we were lacking and that’s what we’ve always been lacking. Washington can stop the run. We can’t even though Washington lost their best receiver. They still had a shot.

I voted before the edit. I voted Daniels and need to change it.

That’s not the way I looked at the question it wasn’t which team had the better shot. According to who. It was individually what do you think? Had a better shot. And I think Washington absolutely
