Whizzinator sellers receive their sentence
Posted by Mike Florio on April 9, 2010 6:33 PM ET
Nearly five years ago, the football-following world was introduced to the term "Whizzinator," when the prosthetic ***** used as a funnel for clean urine was discovered in the luggage of former Vikings running back Onterrio Smith.
The league eventually imposed a one-year suspension on Smith, who already had been suspended four games for multiple violations of the league's substance-abuse policy. He never returned to the NFL.
As it turned out, the marketing of a device aimed at enabling pot smokers to pass piss tests was a federal crime. Gerald Willis and Robert Dennis Catalano previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud the U.S. in connection with its duty to drug test employees and conspiracy to sell drug paraphernalia. Our old friend Taco Bill has passed along the press release indicating that Willis, 67, is going up the river for six months, followed by three years of supervised release. Catalano received only three years' probation.
The company that Willis and Catalano owned, Puck Technology, Inc., was required to dissolve -- and to forfeit all remaining assets.
Hopefully, the feds have a plan in place to prevent any loose Whizzinators from falling into the wrong, um, hands.
