1) Which player that you did not expect to be good has surprised you with did you not expect to be good but surprisingly have played quite well so far?

2) Which player did you expect a lot from but have been disappointed with their performance so far?

Remember, this is not about players like Micah Parsons because everyone expected him to be great and this is not about great players playing even greater.

The topic of this thread is to discuss players who have gone from bad to good and from good to bad in their performance.

I will start it off with ..

1) Brandon Aubrey .. I really was not expecting him to do as well as he had done so far. I thought we would be lucky if we got 75% conversion rates out of him and when he missed his first kick, the extra point attempt, it looked like that may be wishful thinking. Watching him kick with such ease and still maintain distance has been fun to watch.

2) Michael Gallup .. I fully expected his return last season to be a down year because he was fresh off of his repaired ACL return, but I was expecting more from him this year, especially when we learned Cooks was going to be out against the Jets. I am a Gallup fan so I am hoping he turns it around soon as the Cowboys need him to return to form this season.

Over
Osa, Dak, Tyron: All three of these guys are playing at an elite level.

Under
Gallup, Pollard: Gallup looks done. Pollard hasn't made anyone miss. I'm hopeful Pollard can turn it up. Not so sure about Gallup.

Over: Can I just say the entire defense? 10 points in 2 games is just insane, especially considering they have scored more than that.

Under: I am going with Gallup too... was such a great player but he just doesn't have it anymore.

Gallimore over achieved by making the roster, being active on game days, and actually playing a fair amount of snaps.

Edoga algo has show better than my expectations.

Idk how we can say Gallup at this point. He's a downfield WR on a team that has blown teams out and hasn't tried to get the ball downfield lol

Aubrey for sure, but also guys like Chuma, Bass I expected little to nothing from and they have held their own.

I would also say Bell. The guy has been our best linebacker thus far.

Clark hasnt shined as much as I thought he would. Cook has also done little with injury.

I woudnt be too hard on Gallup. He's the #3 WR now and it was a blowout both games. We really haven't passed the ball that much. The Jets had great outside corners so not much sense in testing the outside.

Pollard? Has more than proved his doubters wrong as at least in the carry the load, short yardage, GL, and up the middle running.

After only two regular season games we have a lot of football left to really know.
Having said that, here are my choices so far:

Over achievers:
  • TJ Bass- in an re-do of the 2023 draft, he would be gone by 4th round instead of being an UFA.
  • Osa Odighizhua (he’s always been decent, but in 2 games he’s exceeded his prior performances)
  • Jalen Tolbert- the poster boy for developmental patience.
Under Achievers:
  • Michael Gallup- I still think he’s going to be fine but he needs to show up more.
