whats the point of having two kickers and the bottom of the league punter,a great punter can give you atleast 50 yards a game.i really am shocked how they covered every base but made this glaring error.

i almost wish they burnded the 7th on a punter instead of dinucci just so the front office would be more likely to get rid of jones. he was a huge part of the cowboys awful (i think 2nd worst!) field position woes! got old seeing the other team start on their 40 after every punt!

As the leading Mann cheerleader until the Jets snatched him, I'm on the same page. I wish we knew what the thinking is. But I'm also cognizant that it's fairly typical for guys to come out of nowhere and claim a job. Not worried, but it's just unsettled, and I'm generally anti-unsettled.

EDIT: Finding just now that Michael Turk... yes, related to Matt (his uncle)... still isn't showing up as being signed by anyone, even though he's rated as the best undrafted punter per NFL.com. And, finding that he lists Dallas as his hometown.

Maybe?

Has a big leg based on the scouting report, but isn't an accomplished directional guy yet.

Honestly I’d organize a “blanket party” (like in Full Metal Jacket) at Chris Jones’s house (with a social distancing protocol of course) and cut him after the exercise on the spot for his consistent poor play last season.......And I’m not joking.:muttley:

Punter is a glaring position of needing extra competition.

Other positions include backup QB, swing tackle, TE, youth LB, 1T, backup LDE, and like 30 safeties.

It seems they think it was injury related last
How In the world did we not sign a UDFA P?

Did I miss something?

Hasn't Chris Jones been good except last season?

Even last season, wasn't it just some games that were a problem.

If I recall correctly he has been either the leader or near the top in terms of punts downed inside the 5 yard line most years.

I liked Matt Turk. Was a good punter for the Phins.
I saw bring in Michael.

I'm surprised anyone is worried about who the punter will be, with Bones as the ST coach. I'm very confident this will be resolved long before the season starts, whether that means Jones is back on track or he's replaced.

Nope. Bad in 2018 too.

There's a long time between now and when training camp starts, perhaps even longer than usual this year. There will be another punter in camp by that time.

I wouldn't call Chris Jones "bad." I'm not for cutting him. Punters have good and bad years like most anyone else, and moreover, they obviously can do their job for many years, like kickers.

I just agree that it's time to give him some serious, legitimate competition.
