What were the Cowboys discussing?

People are going to claim the Cowboys wanted Kincaid but the Bills jumped ahead of them.

It was reported by the local draft media people that KC called about trading for #26 but the Cowboys declined.
- That was reported before the Kincaid pick.
- After the Mazi pick it was reported that KC wanted Mazi.

For added fun. Look at the tension between McCarthy and the Jones's

Then watch Will McClay as Jerry is spouting his nonsense. LOL

I love the spinning. Right or wrong if Mazi is a good pick, the Cowboys got swooped again. They have to do a better job of hiding their intentions. Teams get swooped. It’s part of the draft. Cowboys just more than others.

You have to have a plan b and the Cowboys did. Again, it’s part of the draft, especially picking in the bottom of rounds.

People just need to stop creating a narrative that the Cowboys tricked everyone and especially Buffalo into making an unnecessary move up. Buffalo going up one pick does not somehow net you Mazi Smith.

Totally disagree with you
First of all you can’t tell anything about “tension” from that video
Secondly, listen to what Stephen said, the decision was between 2-3 “big guys” . That sounds like DL or OL all the way

They are clearly talking about that decision being between 2 or 3 big guys AFTER Kincaid had been taken.

They had already told K.C. they weren't interested in trading out when they thought Kincaid was going to be there. Then after Buffalo jumped them and took Kincaid. Then they talked to K.C. again and once they discovered K.C. was interested in Mazi they decided against it.

Clearly they wouldn't wait until their pick to even start talking about who they were going to take. They clearly were blindsided and thought they were going to get KIncaid.

Since Kincaid was gone the tension you think was there could not have been for taking him

That’s the point. They were dead set on getting a DL or OL

Yes, I don't see anything to indicate that they had planned to draft Kincaid.
So you are telling me that they waited until they were on the clock to start discussing who they would take? If their original target was there they would have run the card in.

I didn't say the tension had to do with whether or not to take Kincaid. I am saying that once Kincaid was taken and they were forced into plan b that is when the debate started and in a debate one side loses and then the tension shows up.

I am thinking the best way to not get swooped is to remove the Jones family.

If they decided on their top choice ahead of time then why not also decide on their 2nd choice ahead if time?

Do they ever turn in a 1st round pick early on the clock?

They might have been discussing trade offers that they had received as well as discussing players.

I am sure they had several contingencies discussed but they knew the team in front of them would not take a TE so they never got around to finalizing the debate until Buffalo traded up and took Kincaid. Then they were forced to figure out plan B.

They had multiple players rated nearly identical and several trade offers on the table. Of course there would be discussions going on about what to do.
