Every year, someone gets injured, and we end up pleasantly surprised by the back up. Last year you could say it was Noah Brown or Daron Bland. Who do you think that will be this year?

My pick: Asim Richards

I predict that Tyron Smith will go down at some point, maybe for just a few weeks. Out of a desire to not shuffle the line for a temporary absence, they will choose NOT to move Tyler over, and will hold their nose and plug in Asim Richards. I believe Asim will play well enough that we feel good about him taking over for Tyron in the next couple years.

Honorable Mention: Juanyeh Thomas

Hooker may possibly tweak a hamstring and I think we won’t even notice a difference with Juanyeh in there as the FS

Brandon Aubrey. He won't miss five PATs in a row.
Not bad. It would be massive watching him kick a couple game winners this year and be able to go into next year with confidence at that position

Veterans like Dak, DLaw and Tyron Smith.

Youngsters, like Micah Parsons and Damone Clark. Micah, in 3 playoff games only has 1 sack and 16 combined tackles. We need more from him, and we will get it!

Considering he is technically at least a starter, I don't think he qualifies for this premise...
True. I was responding to the thread title instead. Should read more closely.

If I'm going by stepping up for an injured player, I'll go with Vaughn. If Pollard goes down with an injury, I think Vaughn will step in and we won't look back. It will put us in position to not have to pay the going rate to keep Pollard, although the going rate for backs is lower now (but might not be next year since the backs are fighting that).

Defensively, it's more difficult. Probably before this preseason, I would have gone with Mukuamu. But I didn't care for his play in the preseason games. I'm going to go with Bell. Whether he steps in for Kearse or for Clark, I think we're going to be happy with his play. Not saying he's going to be a Pro Bowler, but I just think he'll fit into Quinn's defensive plans well.
