Say we leave Tyler Smith at LG and consider the possibility of moving Guyton to RT.

Is there a LT worth taking at 12?

What about 44?

As most of us know, there's a lot of value at the LT position, so we can't rule it out.

It may very well improve the team to draft an offensive lineman early on, especially if we hit on a year-1 starting caliber stud at the position.

No way they draft a starting LT this year !
Guyton gets at least this season to show he's worth the 1st. Round pick. It's why we have 2 Oline coaches to teach up these guys, and we will be staring a new RG. So they won't do 2 positions - like they did last year in LT and Center.
Now, they may draft a RG, but I kinda think that's a long shot as well.

It really depends on how the draft falls.

Cambell

rd1...josh simmons,ohio st or armand membou,mizzou.

rd2...josh conerly,oregon.

if they want a ot,rd1 is the spot to grab one...although if they wait a bit...logan brown,ku would be a solid pick.

If Campbell falls, it would be hard to not pull the trigger.

But that’s a lot of Day 1-2 picks in the trenches

OL - Guyton, Smith, Beebe, Campbell
DL - Parsons, Williams, Kneeland, Mazi, Osa.

I have been saying all along that taking OL early in this draft is a very distinct possibility.

At 12, if the board gets wiped out and no one wants to trade up, I could see them taking either Campbell or Membou.
At 44 it's either Simmons, Conerly or maybe Ersery. Would any of them be considered better prospects than Guyton? IDK, I personally just don't think they move the needle enough to make them pull the trigger there.

Guyton was a slight disappointment. Many feel the move to the left side was a bit too much and returning to RT would be best for him. And Steele didn't return to form last year, but he's due a lot of $ ($18M cap hit in '25) so I don't know if they can simply walk away or bench him.

But, even though they have a lot, and some really good depth inside with Jones, Hoffman, Bass, Richards and the guy they just signed S Charles, I see RG as a position I think think they could target over an OT. And therefore not taking one until rds 2 or 4. I love Zable and Jackson from OSU. W Milum from WVa could be a great pick up a bit later. He's listed as an OT but I see him as a beast of a G.

How they address the issues will be interesting to watch.

I agree. no way they are going to get rid of steele and put guyton there.... they won't admit to that and jerry hates to pay for a position twice, so steele is hear at best one more year, and at worst, rest of his contract (higher probability).

so Guyton is going to stay at LT and he we will see if he continues to struggle and Joneses continue to spin.

Good point. Cowboys had till the 5th day of the 2025 season to move on from Steele, before his base was fully guaranteed. Well, it's guaranteed now lol.

Cowboys have talked with Membou and Banks who are/were OT's in college. Unless the idea was to move one to guard to replace Martin.

Or Steele goes to guard.

if we draft one of those two guys, I would be ecstatic. move Guyton to the RT position, his more natural position. get rid of steele (dead cap and salary would be a wash) and just move the OL forward. imagine an OT in first round and a top notch DT in the second...wouldnt' that be something.

Steele is not going anywhere this year.

Membou & Simmons are my 1's & Simmons obviously has his medical concerns that would be prohibitive to picking him at #12. I don't like my options at #44. I'm a fan of Trapilo out of Boston College who is projected to go around our 3rd rounder. Man, we really have too many needs and not enough picks.

I would assume #44 will be our RB.

I think it's 3rd round. JMO.

Better value. You can get a line player or CB in round 2 and it's better value for RB in round 3, especially in this draft.
