The Cowboys choose to only sign 1 FA this offseason, not counting signing some of our current players. The player they sign is to a cap friendly salary. Who do you sign.

LeCharles Bently

John Abraham

Terrell Owens

in this case all players are available.

I would pick up Bently. Our o-line needs a strong center to man the middle.

By the thread title I was all over this. Nevermind.

o-line is a must!

I dunno. Bentley would be a nice addition. johnson was very promising in his 1st year, but he hasn't really progressed. It's obvious he doesnt play "bigger" than he is, and that's a problem when you are an O-Lineman. He gets pushed back too hard, and it's a glaring need.

Rivera hasn't been great, but would you if you were sandwiched between a sup-bar center and a rookie RT? I think based on the money that was payed to Rivera this offseason, he's here at least 1 more season.

Too bad Gurode just can't handle the mental challenges of the position

On this list, I would rate the players:
TO > Abraham > Bentley

In terms of attitude:
Bentley > Abraham > TO

In terms of need:
Bentley > Abraham > TO

I guess like most things it depends on what the options available are and how you see them fitting in the system here. I would be against spending a major amount at center right now and would like for a JAG who will do the job unspectacularly - JJ and BP really *** things up with the Rivera signing and the blowing of several draft picks - they'll need to redeem themselves with some FA bargains to fix things.

I think you hit the nail on the head here -- "FA bargains"

That's what this off-season is going to look like. We've got 3 big extensions on the horizon (Witten, Roy, TNew). I really really doubt we will see huge spending on other team's FA's. We'll be looking at mid-range guys.

TO wont help us much if all our cash is tied up in him. Bledsoe is still no sure hting to get the ball out, or any QB really, if he's on his back. Get us a real center, and the O Line looks 10 times better

I think I'd go with Bentley. He's young, mean and strong. He'd anchor our line for years.

I'm afraid that N.O. will never let him go though.

I dont know if Bentley is the answer, but we need a center who can start from day 1, not a rookie who needs to be devloped.

TO - I know, I know...but I bet he's not going to be outrageous money, and he is that THREAT that we need!!

None of those guys appeal to me. I don't think Bentley is a significant upgrade over Johnson, who is a good pass protector and a good run blocker on the move. Smart player as well. TO...no need to go into him. He has many faults which are well documented. And I don't think Abraham fits well as an OLB nor do I think he'd relish the opportunity to change to that position.

I don't really see a lot of need for older veteran players to be added this offseason. The line will be better with Adams back and I want to give Petiti another year. Johnson imo is at least an average center in the league. We need to get younger at receiver, not older. I would rather see a linebacker drafted than signed in FA, in particular an ILB especially if Dat retires. I don't know if I think a high priced FS is necessary, I'd rather have a guy who's a very good zone defender. It's not like the second coming of Aeneas Williams is out there. The one position I could see an older guy added is at the FB position.

with a bentley our team gets more class ;-), with Ab. our team gets a president...with t.o...ummm...we get...a crap fellas wanna help me out with this one?

so i say Bentley

Those of you who want Bentley, I want you to watch him play in a few games -- really watch his play.

He isn't all that. He really isn't.

I haven't watched a lot of Bentley, but our O-Line is our biggest problem

I agree O-line is a major problem........but none of the players would have a TO type impact.

We will upgrade the O-line through the draft and FA pickups.
Bentley is solid, but not spectucular by any means. He is an grade on what we have. Not worth big money , imo.

That's a tough one, but not really. Passing on Abraham or TO, that's the tough part. The easy part is if we only get ONE, we need OLine, period. Althou, draft entirely Olinemen in the first couple of rounds, then we should definatly go with one of the other two players, inwhich I'd lean heavily towards TO because his natural playmaking ability is what I think we're sorely missing. Sure we have some of that with Terry already, but the only time we truly have that is when we trick defenses. TO's trickpony is 11 defensive guys + 100 yards of field, get him the ball and he'll do the rest.
