Why are we not using motion on offense when it works?

It is clear motion on offense, clears out defenders for a purpose and gets receivers/backs into the flats quicker as was clearly depicted on SNF. So why does McCarthy not get it????? Both Miami and SF use it to destroy defenses but McCarthy does not have a clue how to use this or to scheme against it.

He literally ran motion and it got him a TD. Never did anything like that again for the whole game.

Just invites too many opportunities for errors, offsides, holding, false starts.
Better disciplined teams practice the motions, but this is a very stiff offense, flexibility minimal.

I think Mike is really struggling to call the game and coach the team at the same time. He's been out of it for so long, he's running an antiquated scheme and I think the act of just calling plays again has head all twisted up.

So what you are saying is we have a high school team and coach. SF won the game with motion, Look, LIsten, Learn!!! McCarthy is a complete boob.

McCarthy is a dinosaur….we need new fresh blood and genius on offense. We will keep losing with this clown and dak. I guarantee it.

LOL, listen up.
You have to have execution to succeed and if you don't succeed there is something wrong with your execution.... lol\
Football is a rather simple game, and the scheme has been purposely simplified for a very obvious reason.
If you still don't understand by now then try and get some therapy or something.

The scheme is not working. I guess you did not notice. Dak through 4 picks in the last 2 games. Purdy zero. It is scheme. We use very little motion to move defenders pre snap. That is why our receivers are covered like blankets and SF are wide, wide, wide open. Not better athletes, just get open due to scheme clearing out defenders pre snap. Lamb would look like a genious if he was playing for SF and would be open far too often. And Gallop? Sideline passes always defended and clear that this is simply not working. It is scheme.

One play with motion is not going to win games.
Agreed. Sorry. My point was we ran it once, it worked and then basically never did it again. Stupid play calling. Absolutely horrendous. Add horrible QB play and the results speak for themselves

You're never going to succeed if you have to make an offense so simple so that the QB can avoid tossing INT's. That is what this offense has become - just trying to avoid Dak mistakes.

That’s because the 49ers played man on it, they underestimated Turpin’s speed, it was a stupid defensive call, and then they stopped and went back to zone. And as usual Dak can’t throw against zone.

If you notice on that play, Turpin was the guy Dak was going to from the beginning. It’s not like the motion increased his decision-making process on the field. That’s where he really sucks.

You can’t give Dak too much going on.

The 49ers' primary coverage is Cover 3, but they’ve also expanded their repertoire a bit, adding in more man coverage under Wilks. Wilks has shown the willingness to shift more toward man or zone depending on the current matchup, so against the Giants, I would expect to see primarily zone coverage of Cover 1 with a linebacker underneath as the hole defender or in a spy on Daniel Jones. Wilks is alsj bringing forth one of the most aggressive 49ers defenses we’ve seen in recent years, which, paired with an already great pass rush, could spell disaster early on for the Giants.

So far, Fred Warner has been used as a pass-rusher on 8.7 percent of passing down snaps, Dre Greenlaw on 6.3 percent, and Isaiah Oliver on 5 percent. None of those numbers are outrageous, but being willing to use off-ball players as pass-rushers against the Giants is a strong strategy to contain Daniel Jones.

The 49ers, under Wilks, also take a rather old-school approach with their defensive linemen. Where most modern defenses tend to work with "creepers," which drops a traditional defensive lineman into coverage, the 49ers don’t.

Wilks also shies away from putting his off-ball players on the line of scrimmage, which many modern defenses also do to simulate pressure coming in. It’s a rather arrogant approach of, “Our guys are better than yours; we don’t need to simulate anything.” With this personnel, it works.

Coincidentally, this play was part of that “aggressive approach” which got Turpin isolated on a slower DB. Also coincidentally, this TD happened right after Collinsworth mentioned this fact when the camera panned to Wilks.

They had zero need at that point in time to play such an aggressive play call. And they stopped after that.

It was like Bellichek’s man coverage on Lamb last week against a back up corner while bringing the blitz, which was his only TD in the red zone and that to a WR, even though it technically didn’t count, Even Dak said he was surprised they went man there on the TD throw. Dak is as predictable a QB as there is.

There is a reason a SF DB last year said Dak basically isn’t good at throwing against zone.

Because we still have 70 percent of garret's offense here!!!!!!!!

well, I heard through the grapevine that some of the players on the team have allergies to motion. if they do pre-snap moves, they just get dizzy and drop down. so coaches try to avoid it like a plague. we don't want to see players dropping down in the field because we used motion offense.
