I mean seriously, could you see Joe Paterno or Bill Billichik decked out in should pads and a helmet?

What about Phil Jackson wearing a Jersey and shorts with Nikes?

lol I always find it funny when I watch the game. It just looks normal b/c they have always done it, but if you think about it compared to every other sport, it makes you think.

Back in the early days most of the managers were also players and thus needed a uniform. They wear them today for the sake of tradition. Can anyone imagine a baseball coach/manager in college or MLB wearing anything else? That would just be wrong.

Paterno wears cleats and a team windbreaker.. not that different from most MLB managers.

Only difference is they wear the baseball pants as well, but its not completely unlike a coach to sport his team's gear.

I need people to actually move in my favorite sports.

Haha.. i feel ya man. I played for 18 years, so its safe to say i love the game with a passion. However, its alot more fun to play than to watch, even i can admit this. Other than my favorite team, i don't watch a whole lot of it, other than the playoffs.

Either way though, hitting the shore for a month sounds like a damn good idea.

That's the problem. Baseball is incredibly regional and if their team isn't in it, they aren't watching. Wheras in the other sports the game itself is enough to sustain it even w/o rooting interests.

If there were no sports From the beginning of time and then all the current sports that we know today were invented at the same time baseball would fail. Football, basketball, and mma would be the big 3 in America.

I can't believe you called the beach the shore

Lol.. is it not usually referred to as such?

As for the other major sports, i really think football is the only sport (and mayyyyyybe basketball) that can sustain fan interest across the country.

Even today, Major League Managers played the game. They may not have been Major League Players but they all played. I don't think it's such a stretch. I like the idea that they still wear uniforms. I can't see a Manager out there kicking dirt on an Umps shoes in a shirt and tie.
