You nailed it years ago when you said Jethro “runs the team thru the eyes of a fan.”Yup. And they picked the wrong poison. They picked as a casual fan would've picked.

I think they need to stop allowing every coordinator to have a voice, especially if theyre short timers here. This baffles me. I know Jerry is a world class dummy but Dallas has been terrible at drafting on the DL. In my opinion here's why?
1. Position has been a focus historically especially DT
2. Dallas thinks they are too smart and often go for the projectable athlete rather that productive college stars
3. Dallas does too many small school guys. Draft SEC DLinemen and see what happens
4. Culture is not built on toughness and DL needs to be tough
5. Coaching carousel has been a hot mess
6. Just plain stupidity from Jerry as he will always choose flash over the sure thing
What do you guys think?
He’s only played one year and injured at that. You have no idea what he’ll become. Can't speak for Lawrence. But the book is already out on EZ. I would not call him a bust, but he is definitely mediocre.
He’s very Die Hard at drafting.McClain....he's in charge of drafting. Should start with him. I know, Jerry won't let him, if that's true, he should have dropped a pair a long time ago and left. If it's not true, it's his fault, plain and simple

Parker seems to have taken Stephen's parking spot.I think they need to stop allowing every coordinator to have a voice, especially if theyre short timers here.
And should have stayed that way.Parsons was a LB.
Under appreciated fact. And should have stayed that way.
You may end up having a point with Guyrton but Drew was drafted to be developed and at least a year away. Way too soon to judge him.Tyler Guyton and Drew Shelton say hello, LOL
May as well be McRib, still a yes man.Yep, and it’s McClay. He’s been the one constant throughout feeding Jethro.
I see what you did there....may as well be McRib. LolHe’s very Die Hard at drafting.![]()
Guyton was already turning things around last season when he got injured again. You may end up having a point with Guyrton but Drew was drafted to be developed and at least a year away. Way too soon to judge him.
I’m beginning to think we suck at drafting OT’s. That’s what I think….This baffles me. I know Jerry is a world class dummy but Dallas has been terrible at drafting on the DL. In my opinion here's why?

Or even more likely, he stepped back and let someone else make the decisions. This was not a Jerry-like draft, not in the least. Nor was it a Jerry-like FA period. Everything screams that it wasn't him. I sure hope so, gives us a glimpse of hope for the future. They haven't been terrible drafting DEs. I think the problem at DT is they did not value the position until last year when Jerry was forced to face the facts about his historically bad defense.
Since 2000, the Cowboys have drafted 18 DE, 18 CBs, and 17 LBs in the first 4 rounds of the draft. They drafted 7 DTs and 5 of them were in the 3rd round. They drafted as many TEs as DTs and more than half of the TE selections we in the 2nd round.
The Cowboys over those years attempted to fill in the DT with aging cast-offs. I think someone opened Jerry's eyes last year, at least a little but I am still not convinced he loves the position.
