Why doesn't Roy play LB in the nickel?

I dont mind threads on RW and what not but converting him to LB, even just on nickel is getting way old and far fetched.

So then why does Dallas have a guy playing nickle LB, Kevin Burnett, that is essentially the same size as Roy?

It wont happen. End of story.

Where have I heard that before?
Oh yeah, it was in regard to Greg Ellis being switched to LB when the subject of Dallas going to the 3-4 first came up a few years ago.

I just don't get this mindset that everything is set in stone. Especially when certain players are a better fit in other positions.

1st of all... Kevin Burnett has played LB all his life. Roy Williams has been a safety.

And I never said Ellis wouldnt be converted. Dont mix me up with others.

And another thing.

Being the same size doesnt matter.

Culpepper was the size of some linemen.. could he possible play line in the NFL? I can draw a ton of other comparisons for you if you would like... myself and Devon Hester, I cant do what he can do.

TWO WORDS: Abram ELAM

All Elam has done is look heady on special teams and play well in the pre-season against scrubs so he can't be any good.
Glad that type of resume never worked for Romo.

The difference between playing LB and SS isn't like the difference between being a surgeon and a bricklayer.
Urlacher switched between college and the pros. Darren Woodson as well, in the other direction. I am sure if I hunted around enough I could find plenty of others.

We can just get Thomas as a FA and solve it.

The guy can play anywhere.

We need to mold Watkins into a ball hawk and we'll be ok.

Am i the only one sick of all these damn Roy to LB threads?

NO sir, you aren't...Roy isn't tough enough to play LB in the regular set...he's an ankle tackler when someone comes at him head on...I noticed that on Thanksgiving a few years back against Miami and Ricky Williams. It would be like the foolish talk of Vick playing RB, maybe he can do it as a 3rd down receiving or draw type playmaker, but as a guy running through the line against LB's and DL men...that is a ridiculous idea.

But Roy is one of the hardest hitting DB's I've seen, so I think most are talking about a DB playing a LB type position in the NIckle or Dime packages, anything other than deep cover.

I would love to see Thomas in a Dallas uniform. He has freak of nature physical ability. I think he may command some crazy money but I hope Jerry goes for it and gets it done.

Roy would be the perfect "46" SS.

Is Buddy still alive? Maybe he and Parcells would throw down on the sidelines. And old man fight with man-boobs flapping.

First of, what ellis did was a lame excuse for LB.

secondly, there is a HUGE difference moving from safety to LB and from pass rushing DE to pass rushing OLB

I must agree.

Ellis didnt make the switch "successfully."

The guy was awful in space.

He brought pressure on the QB just like he did as an end.

He couldnt cover worth you know what and was terrible in the open field.

How many other plays have you noticed that he's ankle tackling on?

Seeing stuff like this really doesn't strike me as a guy that's an ankle tackler. You can check my "Tear it up" video and see a crap load of other plays where he went head up with guys... Shaun Alexander, Marshall Faulk, Brandon Jacobs, EMMITT SMITH.
