Why Peterson over Prince?

Not that it is dispositive of the issue, but performance edge got to Peterson. He was the better CB.

See:

Chuck Bednarik Award (Defensive Player of the Year) - Patrick Peterson [last year's winner was N. Suh]

Jim Thorpe Award (Best Defensive Back) - Patrick Peterson [last year's winner was Eric Berry]

I don't think there is any dispute about whether Peterson was better. He was the best defensive player in the entire country.

(Deion says)The only thing wrong about a big corner. Is if you are 219 now where are you going to end up? Deion came in at 180 and ended up 200, Peterson can't play corner at 225-235 in this game. He can't wait to see drills and see their hips and lateral movement and can they go get the ball.

NFL didn't have Deion critique Prince's 1st backpedal/transition but they did the second time and Deion and Mayock were disappointed with how high he was in his backpedal. (I didn't think he was as high in the first one, Mayock didn't comment on it either) 2nd one was very noticeable. (on a relook of his first, it was a different angle so it was a little bit hard to tell or compare to the 2nd one but he may have been high in that one also)

Deion was impressed with Brandon Harris' first one with him being very low and transitioned very well.

Just imagine what Campo could do with talent like this.

Just saw his comparison to Vontae Davis. Him and Mayock say he has some tightness in the hips but still a going to be a good player. Deion says he basically the same guy as Davis and Davis is a really good player for the dolphins.

Mayock on Jimmy Smith. Said he has prototype size and speed. But he was inconsistent in coverage, inconsistent in tackling. Seem to lose interest in games and has a lot of red flags off the field that he has to answer questions about.

My own observations, but Mayock was making them also with Deion agreeing.

In drill, Jimmy Smith is obviously tighter in the hips than the other two. He looked really stiff out there.

Peterson was also high but showed a lot better, similar to what Amukamara did.

Both will be top-10 corners in the league someday, but Peterson has the skills to be the elite, shut down corner that is so rare these days. He is bigger and more physical than almost every corner in football and has elite lateral quickness.

PP reminds me of Nmandi. He's a similar size and even faster. Nmandi might be a hair smoother but PP is a bit stronger and has better top end speed. Nmandi plays at 215 or so.

Deion actually praised PP for his fluidity in drills despite being 20 pounds heavier than the average CB prospect.

I believe PP will simply take away lots of guy at the line of scrimmage and if he does get a pick it is going the other way for 6.

After that 4.34 he is the top rated player in thus draft imho.

Especially since there are 3 or 4 really quality DL which very little separation between them.

At CB the drop off is enormous after Prince. Smith is big gamble and the other guys are just lesser athletes.
