Why was 25 of the Texans unblocked?

If you look at this 4th and goal stop, which is by far our WORST play of the day, #25 was unblocked.

Sean McKeon, furtherest guy to the left, went to block #97 - but #25 just walked into the backfield untouched. What went on here? Does any keyboard experts know? Elliott might've been able to hit the small crease that McKeon created on the left if #25 wasn't there. McKeon actually held his block, but Elliott probably went charging in the middle when he saw #25 coming right into his face.

I cannot stand this play. First of all....Zeke looked gassed. I think he had run it a couple of times in a row. Secondly, SPREAD THEM OUT!!!!!!!!! Why bunch everyone together and invite EXACTLY what happened. This is not the 90s where Dallas sported the best interior OL in the history of the NFL (Larry Allen)....and Dallas sported the most dominant OL of the Super Bowl era. Our TEs are average blockers at best. I simply hated this formation in that situation.

Should have been a RPO, Dak could have walked it in. 25 would have either went after Dak and he could have ran him over or it would have held 25 long enough. But that was a bad play from the start.

Just another play that kept them in the game. 3 mistakes. That stuff on the goal line, the pick and the fumbled punt. Maybe 21’points left on the field.

Plays like that are why I worry about Dak and Moore as a couple. Dak should have seen all 11 guys at the line of scrimmage and either called time out or audibled to something different. Three Texans defenders got penetration and the rest stalemated our front line. Dak really needs to develop a better feel for these situations and needs to shake Moore off when he sends in something stupid. If he doesn't get that we're never going to get where we wanna go.. because sometimes the defense is going to be in the right set for what you want to do.. and playoff defenses are going to do it more often than not. So you need to be ready to do something else.

You are right.....and like we discussed they smartly lined up 3 wide on the game winner to spread the defense

What bothers me is that they seldom carry that learning point to the next game. I can see them running that failed jumbo scheme in the very next game.....and we will all be saying....what the hell?

One small guy tackled Zeke. It was otherwise blocked up really well. It's on Zeke to beat that guy. Zeke tried to run him over and the guy won. Probably should have chosen to spin out away from the guy and walk in to the outside.

The LB, pretty much unblocked (Biadasz slipped off of him and went to the ground), met Zeke in the hole and absolutely stoned him. The two DBs cleaned it all up.

First of all which was it.. "one small guy" or the LB? Also they met Zeke two yards deep in the backfield. If Zeke had been able to get to the "hole," meaning the line of scrimmage, he would have had enough momentum to push the pile. The defense got there before he ever had a chance. Unless you are now contending that the "hole" was supposed to be two yards deep in the backfield?

What? Even without 25 coming behind the LOS, they had completely won the point of attack.

Zeke got bashed on the board after that play, while others got immunity.

Either that guy didn't watch the game or he is one of those people whose eyes only see what he wants to see. Not one, not two but THREE defenders got to Zeke before he got to the line of scrimmage.. But this dude saw "one small guy" tackling Zeke. Then another saw Zeke "stonewalled in the hole" despite the fact that because the defense won Zeke never made it to the hole. It's impossible to hold intelligent football conversation with people who can seemingly bend time and space so that the TV screen presents only the picture THEY want to see.

Yeah, I wish Dak was allowed to audible out of plays

You and I both know that if he had audibled and it still got blown up the pitchforks would have been out for him audibling out of the run. Like I said.. spread them out.. give the linemen angles to work with and let Zeke get in there behind Zack and Co. and cut off it. If there is one man standing between him and paydirt.. I like his chances..

Another thing could be frustration with Moore's playcalling and Dak saying " ok cool, you can own this one"

If we are frustrated at times by Moore's calls, one can only imagine how the players feel

Good point.. But that comes back to that "too many good soldiers" thing I spoke of. If Dak was more or an a-hole he'd cuss Kellen out for some of those end arounds in the red zone. He'd refuse to run Zeke right up the middle against an 11 man box on the goal line. He's got to call time out and go talk about it when he comes to the line and sees that. Then go to the sideline and say "Kellen what the hell are we doing here?" Zack has shown that willingness to challenge Moore's play calling on a few occasions but it absolutely HAS to come from the QB not the right guard.

Ball (the guy you see laying on his belly impeding Zeke’s running room) got blown up as soon as the ball was snapped. How can you say this was well blocked? Lol

I'm no expert. Just my opinion. It looks to me that McKeon and Tyler failed that play. If McKeon picks up 25 and if Tyler picks up the guy McKeon blocked, and with James Washington pulling that LBer with him just enough when he went in motion, I like my chances with McKeon blocking a smaller CB, Tyler one on one with his man and Zeke one on one with a full head of steam against that LBer that's slightly out of position.
