END QUARTER 2

Why We Will Take Cam Newton if He's there at #9

True but it is a bit different with defensive players than QB's.

I would probably agree with that but I think the same worries still apply.

I like Newton. I think he will be a great NFL QB. Just not sure I like him enough to use #9 on him. I just don't know. We'll see what happens.

I doubt he'll be there at nine. If he was, he's probably worth the pick, but no way is it worth it for the Cowboys. Jones would give his brain a hernia trying to dial eight phones at once to trade the pick.

I agree. The fact Quinn missed this entire season last year does not make me feel great I think scouts will look at the physical attributes more so with defensive players than QB where the process is much more than physical.

He's been thinking that for years now. That line of thinking isn't working anymore.

I agree, but who is doing the drafting.

With a QB it is more mental than any other position by far. And that is where Newton fails.

I don't know. I still think there are just too many questions up in the air where Romo is concerned to get rid of him just yet. Let's see him under Garrett for a season and see what happens.

However if the future of the position is in question as far as the organization goes, I wouldn't waste it this year on Newton but instead wait until next year and "break the bank" on someone like Luck.

Let's take that scenario and start looking to see how we can trade down end of the 1st round and maybe try to also pick up an extra #1 next year if possible with that trade. We can still pull a starter out of the 25+ range in this years draft and fill one of our glaring needs. Now we're left with 2x #1s in next years draft. Take it a step further and repeat the process in the 2nd round also giving us 2x #2s next year. There's some ammo that could get us Luck next year and still not sacrifice this years draft in the least.

Imagine what kind of revenue a high profile QB like Newton would generate in the DFW area.

Jerry's no dummy. He knows that you have to have a QB to win these days and he's not going to keep Romo around much longer without any insurance.

I'd say not much revenue - I don't want him as the face of my franchise

so thats why Jerry paid Romo

$67.4 million contract extension through 2013. The deal contains $30 million guaranteed, including an $11.5 million signing bonus and Romo's 2008 base salary. 2011-2012: $9 million, 2013: $11.5 million, 2014: Free Agent

:lmao:

He's been spending too much time w/ Dan Snyder.

Lol I could think of a lot worse things (cocaine possession)

Really stupid argument ...... even from you.

Wonderlic Scores comparisons

Troy Aikman - 29

Peyton Manning - 28

Ben Roethlisberger - 25

Tony Romo - 37

Can Newton - 21

Dan Marino 15
Jim Kelly 15
Terry Bradshaw 15

Brian Griese 39
Ryan Fitzpatrick 48
Alex Smith 40

So at best, the Wonderlic is an inconsistent and undependable tool to judge QBs with.

A better arm than Vick? Hmmm

I'm not sure he even has a better arm that Gabbert. And gabbert is better in almost every other part of the game as well.

I guess we'll see though. I do think Newton will be okay down the road for someone. I think Gabbert will be a long time quality starter if he goes to the right place.
Newton does have a better arm than Gabbert but that doesn't mean he's better than Gabbert.

I don't know about Newton having a better arm than Vick that 87 yd TD bomb to Jackson against the Skins was a thing of beauty.

With that being said there is no way Dallas drafts Newton at #9.

Newton strikes me as the next JaMarcus Russel. Once he gets paid,.....that's it.

This is totally baseless. Just a feeling i get from the surrounding controversy.
