1. Camp-to-Game Consistency: This is my #1. Every backup that has showed out at camp, showed out in the game. The ONE exception to this is Jalen Brooks who had a really rough game. I’d be absolutely miserable if all the camp stars stunk and random cut-down guys shined.

2. Deuce Shut Some People Up: You know who you are. This dude may never be a #1, but he’s probably gonna be at least Sproles-like. Looked like a bunch of toddlers chasing a tiny dog out there. Y’all worried about him getting broken and all I see are defenders getting their ankles broken

3. We Are Magically Deep at TE: Just like that. I don’t even know where Stephens came from, and I didn’t think Ferg would take the steps he has so far. It only gets better as Stephens and Schoon getter better. Money is that keep 4 and Stephens boots McKeon

4. Tolbert Redeemed Himself: It’s like getting an extra draft pick back. Dude went from total bust to solid #4 that will push Gallup for snaps. Shows what hard work can do. Super proud of that guy.

5. Overshown and Clark look like Freaks: LB may not even be a need after this year. Cowboys may have hit two mid round home runs on these two.

And Here’s the ‘Sort Of’ caveat:
O-Line needs a little help. I don’t think it’s all bad. Some guys played well, but some guys they should go ahead and cut and go shopping. *cough Josh Ball *cough

BONUS: I saw the Aubrey missed XP looked like a bad hold (out of place). Outside of that he was dead center on everything and his kickoffs were beautiful. Let’s see how games 2 & 3 go before we pull out the pitchforks.

I think that Brooks will be fine. Some of incompltions were on Grier.

Is it my imagination or did the QB’s get rid of the ball much quicker then the last offense . And judging by the drives I like MM being a fan of the run game .

On defense it’s one ps game but goodness Jax was 3rd and Lewisville from Arlington the entire game and kept converting . That last TD was ridiculous for Jax he’s sacked but he’s not next thing the receivers mugging for the cameras in the end zone . Horrible. Tighten up against Seattle .

That’s a good point. I did feel like the ball came out a lot quicker, despite the vanilla offense. It can be scary cause corners can try and jump that, so I hope they mix in double moves too

Our second string Defense hung in there with a playoff caliber offense.

Our defense will be exceptional this year.

Dowdle looks good. Some very tough runs. Nice run, but then a fumble.

Fergy will be very good for us.

Hard to tell much else since most all of the offensive starters sat.

We had some miscues by some players but that is also why we have preseason. Hang on to the ball should be a mantra this time of the year going forward. Overall I think some good things were shown by certain players that will help their confidence. Deuce Vaughn was as advertised.

I agree with everything you said. I’m super excited about Deuce and that athletic freak of a TE we have. I am worried about the offensive line but not panicking. Deuce, the TE position and the defense looked good. Also I agree that MM may be more run oriented than KM which is great if Deuce is a solid player. Him and Pollard can make big plays from the running game which will take pressure off Dak. When Dak plays with less pressure he plays well.

Throughout his coaching career, MM has been more of a pass to set up the run kinda guy....

Nice review.
The one thing I want to see with Deuce. He can hide behind a few OL, then boom, break a long run, for at least a 1st down and then some.
Then defenses will need to watch for that. Will he get the ball or not. This will be where some great play action can produce some big plays in the passing game as well.

So can MM create those plays, and can Dak pull them off. This is where he needs to hide that ball. So is it a run, or is it a pass. If they bite on the run, then Dak can have an open receiver.

It's not that we ran the ball more, it's that we ran the ball better. Didn't see those 3 defenders meeting the RB in the backfield that we saw all too often w/ KMo.

I think Jerry did KMo a huge disservice by giving him the O. He should've given MM the O and let KMo learn for at least 1 season.

Good post. I think Overshown looks like a beast. Places with an edge. Deuce was the best player on the field. I continue to like what I see from Ferguson. Also, and this may be controversial, I liked what I saw from Smith.
