Saw it yesterday on reddit. According to what I remember from comments, she isn't completely deaf; she's had a hearing aid since she was two.

Also, tip on the wimp vids. The source they take the vids from is at the bottom. If youtube, the vid ID is not far away. Copied here for ease of thread:

Awesome stuff. I get teary eyed watching stuff like this. I can't imagine what it would be like not to be able to hear my wife or son laugh and then hearing them for the first time ever.

What a great story. I'm really moved by it. God bless her.

On a side note; I saw Ellen do a standup routine once and she was just hilarious. I'm so glad the company reimbursed them for the cost.

Absolutely awesome that the company is willing to give her two implants for free.

So many medical/drug companies are ruthless. There are some who are very generous in donating to worldwide causes and such but there are some companies who are absolutely disgusting.

An amazing story.

My favorite part is that she gets the second implant for free, and the Mother In law gets her money back.

It truly touches me when kindness is rewarded with kindness.

...feelings a gift from your daughter. You'll have many years to share and express your emotions for her.

Great story about the lady and the medical company.
