Here you go Hostile.........

World’s hottest pepper is ‘hot enough to strip paint’
By Brett Michael Dykes

Fiery food mavens seeking to one-up each other now have to gear up for a whole new test of culinary bravado: the world's hottest chili pepper.

Yes, the Naga Viper, the latest claimant to the world's-hottest-pepper crown, outdistances its predecessor, the Bhut Jolokia, or "ghost chili," by more than 300,000 points on the famous Scoville scale of tongue-scorching chili hotness. Researchers at Warwick University testing the Naga Viper found that it measures 1,359,000 on the Scoville scale, which rates heat by tracking the presence of a chemical compound. In comparison, most varieties of jalapeño peppers measure in the 2,500 to 5,000 range -- milder than the Naga Viper by a factor of 270.

You might think the Naga Viper would hail from some part of the world with a strong demand for spicy food, such as India or Mexico. But the new pepper is actually the handiwork of Gerald Fowler, a British chili farmer and pub owner, who crossed three of the hottest peppers known to man -- including the Bhut Jolokia -- to create his Frankenstein-monster chili.

"It's painful to eat," Fowler told the Daily Mail. "It's hot enough to strip paint." Indeed, the Daily Mail reports that defense researchers are already investigating the pepper's potential uses as a weapon.

Ha.

I started watching a couple of others try this pepper. This guy looked pretty miserable the entire time:

The videos are great. The guy getting the oils from the pepper in his eye reminded me of a time that I was dicing up peppers fresh from the farmers market and had to go to the mens room. Well, I washed my hands thoroughly and went on my way, but apparently didn't get all the oils off my hands and ended up with hot pepper oils on Mr. Johnson.

Not fun at all. :bang2: :D

I have never had the pepper itself, but I have had the sauce. Its pretty brutal, but not the hottest thing out there. Pure Capcasin is like 16,000,000 Scovilles and will put you on the ground for a couple hours :O

That pepper may not be bigger than his head, as he said. But it is bigger than his brain.

I like heat. The hotter the better. I haven't had one of these yet but I do know this. What goes in, has to come out!

exactly. I can still handle eating any level of heat, but I finally had to back down because I can no longer handle the next day with style.

sucks getting old!

We had a day of "Can you top this" at work, everyone brought their peppers and everyone partook and enjoyed them. This guy that eats possums and racoons went to the mens room, a little later I also had to go.When I went in I saw him with his pants down over the sink scrubbing away on something with LAVA soap. I said, what are you doing and he told me he had pepper juice on wee willy and was trying to get it off. Needless to say I went out and hollered for someone to bring the fire extinguisher, this brought the whole shift in to observe and learn the lesson being taught.
I had forgotten about that incident until:lmao2: you brought it up, thanks alot!!!!

And I thought I had it bad when I accidentally rubbed my eye after washing a cutting board with jalapenos on it. :eek:hno:

OUCH!! My very first unfavorable experience with eye and throat burn took place, when for some reason that escapes me now, I had put a pan of peppers on to boil and left to do something else, when I finally came back into the kitchen the vapors or fumes, if you will ,got in my eyes and I breathed them in and started choking. Tears and lack of air made for a mad scramble outside. Later knowing it wasn't going to get any better inside I held my breath and made a dash in and turned the fire out on the way through.
And that is how pepper spray came about.
This should make "Kids do the darndest things" show.
