Would OBJ just be a distraction for Dak at this point?

Doesn’t It take time to learn timing and build chemistry between a QB and his receivers? It took all this time for Dak and Gallop to get mostly back in sync. I am sure OBJ and Dak could be magical after lots of practice and reps but it is late in the season for that. I think Jerry should find a way to pay Pollard and others with any money he might use on OBJ this year. Maybe a 2022 bonus to keep them here for later years?

Also I wonder if it would just be better for this team if Dak and his current WR core focus on syncing up even more rather than distract that with reps for OBJ.

Sure bring him on if you want if it’s more than just this year but otherwise, no thanks.

People are over blowing the distractions and bad teammate out of proportion.

Simply look at it this way. Von Miller won a ring in Denver without Odell. Von Miller won a ring in LA with Odell. Buffalo has the best chances of winning the Super Bowl. Von Miller is recruiting Odell to help get Buffalo over that hump. Why would Von rock the boat on a gravy train that is set for the AFC championship at minimum right now if he were a distraction?

IMO, getting OBJ could be a big mistake. If Kellen and Dak are afraid of him, I could easily see the team going out of its way to force him the ball going away from the run and other receivers just to get him his touches.

Baker Mayfield sucks, don't get me wrong but there was a healthy dose of this in Cleveland. They have an elite running game and despite that, OBJ was pouty when he didn't get his touches and that lead to forcing the ball.

Man you said a mouthful of exactly what I was thinking. Dak would definitely be forcing throws to Beckham at the expense of those young TEs that are coming along and the running game. If anything the Cowboys need one more solid RB to work into the game

I am 100% totally against bringing him in:
1. He's a self-centered player, has zero loyalty to whoever he plays for. That kind of player will desert you at the first sign of trouble, or the first time he has even a perceived lack of being disrespected.
2. He won't be here long term, this is a relatively young team, OBJ is already 30, the age at which a sharp drop-off in performance often happens.
3. Receiver is not a big problem with the Cowboys. Only so many pass attempts to go around. He would add value, but how much? Not like Lamb, Gallup etc. are slouch receivers. We just saw what Pollard can do in the receiving game as well.
4. Wherever he has gone he's been a distraction at some point. That's never good for a team.
5. There are needs on the team - LG and OT for two, and if they don't re-sign LVE you can add LB to that list for sure. Cowboys will need to have money available if a good young FA becomes available.
6. OBJ is a diva. We saw what picking up divas can do to a team with TO, don't want a repeat of that with OBJ. (Notice how both are known by their initials? That may be a sign.) Divas can poison a team, divide a locker room and draw attention away from winning.

NO, NO, NO on OBJ.

Yep, too much media exposure by this team. The dynamic GM and Son duo along with SleepNumber is plenty.
I do not think Jerry Jones or Mike McCarthy are the right people to manage this type of high profile personality addition to the locker room without it backfiring.
There are plenty of pass catchers here already. Do NOT go pass happy.

Stick with the run game, defense and special teams.

I'm concerned between Kellen n Dak this offense will go pass happy, and mess up the offense. We saw how Gallup has struggled to get back to his normal level of play, and he's still not there imho. Then we'd have to go thru the same with Beckham at the clutch part of the season?

Oh yeah, extend Tony Pollard now!!!

Yeah but Buffalo isn't Dallas. The level of crazy would be 10 fold here. Second, the Bills have Stephon. He's going to be the focal point of the passing game.

Beyond distraction though, why is anyone thinking he'd be much of a contributor? I mean Gallup is just now starting to show progress toward getting back to his self. Is there any evidence that OBJ is ready to take a football field and be more than a decoy?

Yes. Mr Beckham is a diva. Mr Prescott would feel obliged to get him the ball (Messrs Jones would expect it for a return on their dollar) like Mr Romo always had to do with Mr Bryant otherwise he'd have a temper tantrum. Just say no.

WR is not a problem for the Cowboys. Messrs Lamb n Gallup are a great duo.

Go Cowboys!

Total distraction from start to finish. Disruptive to team chemistry and is a diva.
I do not support his signing. Our receivers are coming around.

Hey, look at it this way. It gives you guys another excuse to use when the QB comes up small to end our season.

I am on the fence about signing him but I think this offense will need a third WR when they face better teams. Right now they are getting nothing from Brown and Tolbert and don't seem interested in activating Washington even though he is ready to return.

Yes!!!

That's my fear. We lobbied so hard to get OBJ, now we've got to feed the beast to justify our wooing him.
