Would you take a Brock bowers if one was available?

He is good. But he is not Bowers good. Bowers is a rare talent
As a Penn St fan I’m a huge Ty Warren fan and think he is probably one of the more complete/ready to play prospects in the draft…but he just doesn’t have the athletic profile of Bowers.
I think TJ Hockenson is a better comp for Warren. Early 20’s to early 30’s and someone is going to get a great value.

Yes. Not a statement against Warren. He is up there amongst the best prospects to come out at TE. Bowers was just such a rare talent

Schoon is starting to get better and we also have Ferguson. Remember, there is a big learning curve for the position, it took Shultz multiple years before he made a real impact.

Bowers is on pace for 1200 yards receiving this season. What would a 1200 yard WR cost you in free agency? You're easily looking at $25M per year.

Let's call Bowers' contract value $26M/yr. That's more than any LT but Trent Williams, way more than any interior OL in the league, more than all but four pass rushers in the league, and more than any DT beside Chris Jones and Christian Wilkins. Essentially, Bowers is as valuable as a Hall of Fame linemen.

he wouldn't have 1200 yards here more than likely. he's a safety blanket for a terrible qb w/ no other weapons. impressive, for sure, but not the same impact here .

Obviously Ferg or Schoon don't have the same potential as Bowers. He's been special since a freshman at UGA.

Say Ferguson stays at that 70-750-5 TD range. That's ~ 10 yards a catch.
Bowers is at 84-884 so 10.5 ypc and 5 TDs.

But if we are playing the what if game, what if Mason Graham could be a Chris Jones level impact DT?
What's more important, an improvement at TE, or filling the huge void at 3 tech when/if Osa walks?

Chris Jones is a 5x All-Pro. Talk about setting the bar high.

If Graham falls short of that standard, and "only" develops into a DeForest Buckner or Jeffrey Simmons caliber of player, that's a push vs a 100+ catch receiver.

Way I see it, Bowers could very well be a multi time All-Pro T.E.
Kittle/Kelce level impact TE once he gets a few seasons under his belt.

I like Bowers, just not as a top 10-15 pick.
