So gun control wouldn't help keep guns out of the hands of kids? Of course they didn't legally get the guns, but they got the guns from someone else who shouldn't have had them. I'm not anti-gun, but it's hard to deny that fewer guns sold means fewer possibility of kids getting their hands on them. It's basic math.

The barn door was open for decades so no point in trying to close it.
Tell me how the drug laws stop kids from getting drugs?
You have to pass a background check now to buy guns legally; so your first point does not work.
and like I said anyone with enough cash can buy one illegally just like drugs
more laws never solve anything. Especially when the laws on the books are not enforced; look at NYC.

Gun laws only affect people that follow them. Gun laws only prevent law abiding citizens from getting them .
Criminals will have guns no matter what laws are passed. Let's just make murder a crime... Oh wait.
Guns are an inanimate object that only do what the person holding them does.
My 27 guns have never killed anyone.

I used to have about that number; none of them jumped up and shot anyone

I'm not going to touch on the gun debate due to forum rules, but I can't wrap my head around why 12-14 year old kids are trying to break into a home and rob someone. It blows my mind. When I was 12-14, I was hanging out with friends playing Nintendo, shooting hoops, floating down the canal behind our neighborhood (I know, not the safest thing!), starting to notice girls, and sneaking a peek at our dad's Playboys. Robbery? It wasn't even a thought. The worst thing we did was play ding-dong-ditch around the neighborhood.

Look, I get it, some kids don't get the chance to grow up in a stable home. Environment plays a huge role in shaping us, but it’s heartbreaking to see children feeling like this is their only path. I don’t have the answers, but the lack of positive parental guidance undeniably contributed to these kids losing their lives. It’s tragic.

As for the homeowner, I don’t blame them. You have to protect your family. I own firearms, and I will absolutely defend my family from any unauthorized entry. It's just a sad situation all around.

No comment on gun laws.

But aside from that....Sad story. Hate seeing underage kids shot, but they seem to have had it coming.
Glad nobody was killed.
I wonder what the charges will be against the kids seeing they are minors?

I saw this yesterday. It is still sad when anyone gets shot. I feel like society failed again. How do we stop kids from becoming violent? What is the allure for some kids to gravitate towards violence?

There has always be juvenile delinquency so I won't pretend this is new. It just seems like it is a lot worse in the 21st century when we should expect we are evolving past it.

We basically have the equivalent of a school shooting every single weekend in Chicago. Young kids killed every weekend---some innocent, some not.
But we won't see the politicians (or riots) there because it doesn't fit their narrative.

Any innocent death is tragic
Very sad stuff

Because they got the guns. Either they got them from someone who had them illegally, or they got them from someone too irresponsible to own guns.
You don't KNOW that. There are a lot of ways someone can get a gun that does not follow either one of those.
broke into a gun shop and stole them; maybe someone had them in their home in a locked gun case and they broke into it.
Lots of possibilities.

That has been an argument for a very long time: Nature vs Nurture.

I have always believed that some people are born good and some are born bad and most are in the middle.
It is how you are brought up, the environment where you are brought up, that shapes most of us.
parenting or lack of it; bad parenting; living in a bad area; influenced by a culture where life is cheap; and so on.
And those that do not suffer from all that usually turn out to be decent people.
But as I said some are born as bad seeds and will always be bad
and some will be born good and always will be good

You think a 12 year old broke into a gun safe?
