Something bothered me that Gumbo (yes, I intentionally spelled it that way) said during the broadcast. He said that the Packers were the youngest team in the NFL. I did some research, and here's what I found according to the 53 man active rosters right now on nfl.com:

Average age: 27.32
Avg # of players under 25 on each roster: 16
Avg # of players over 30 on each roster: 11
Avg # of players over 35 on each roster: 1.81

Teams in order of average age(current playoff teams in bold):
Indianapolis 26.26
Green Bay 26.55
Dallas 26.65
Buffalo 26.68
San Diego 26.85
Cincinnati 26.92
NY Jets 26.95
Cleveland 26.96
Minnesota 26.99
Philadelphia 27.01
Tennessee 27.05
Miami 27.06
NY Giants 27.11
Oakland 27.17
Jacksonville 27.18
Baltimore 27.18
Arizona 27.21
Atlanta 27.22
Carolina 27.24
Pittsburgh 27.38
Seattle 27.44
Chicago 27.47
Houston 27.50
San Francisco 27.53
Detroit 27.68
St. Louis 27.70
Denver 27.77
Kansas City 27.96
Tampa Bay 28.01
New Orleans 28.20
New England 28.28
Washington 29.05

So the Packers are one of the youngest teams, but not THE youngest. And the average age of our "old" team is a staggering 37.6 days older than those babes with mobiles of cheese in their cribs!

St. Louis and Washington both have 5 players 35+, New England(& 2 others) have 4. Dallas has 1(Brad Johnson). GB has 2.

Washington has 20 players over 30...we have the lowest with 6(along with Indy and Arz)...GB has 8.

GB and Indy have 24 players under 25, we have 20(2nd most), Philly and NYG have 19, Washington and New England have the fewest with 9.

What would be the mathmatical effect of just dropping B.Johnsons 40 yr old #

might put us right on level w/G.Bay.........

and for comparison sake.....we dont depent (knock on wood) B.Johnson as does G.Bay and 40yr old Farve.........

I check out no man's trash.

See the direct article instead of the 2nd person possessive pronoun?

If you drop Brad Johnson, you have to add someone. Since BJ is our 2nd string QB, I replaced his age with that of Richard Bartel on our practice squad.

That brings our average age to 26.38

I posted this last week because I got tired of hearing about how young the packers were.

i wonder what the stats are based on players who are starting or have significant playing time.

I did this and posted...our 24 (starting 22, plus K&P) are almost the same as theirs, we are not far off at all

and someone mentioned that our avg age would be higher if I had included Ferguson and Glenn, I didnt count Ferguson because he is on IR, but I did count Glenn in my avg age calc for the entire roster
