I'm going to go with Jalen Brooks, Jalen Moreno Cropper, and/or possibly Dontario Drummond as my first surprise in the wide receiver room. I'm not sure how many UDFAs make our team, but I could see a few making the roster. I'm also excited to see this Durden guy and Barbon. I haven't lost hope on Simi Fehoko, but I really like our new class of WRs for camp. I suspect the Cowboys have a spot for him on the 53 this camp.

Other rookies who might make a contribution in your first few games? Give me rounds 1-4. I think by the fourth game, people will begin to see Overshown as special player. His instincts are off the charts, and he's very coachable. And he fits the types of schemes we run to disguise our looks perfectly. I'm going to throw Vaughn in there just to keep him in the same category as the other rookies with instincts.. Throw in Schoonmaker, too. I think people are sleeping on Schoonie. Or Schooooon! He was much like Mazi Smith. His job was to block. What he does with the ball, per capita, is great. And he blocks like a champ! This has the making of being one of the best drafts ever, in my opinion. People have just sort of slept on it, because the draft has become so popularized and most people didn't get the player they wanted. I think Fehoko will possibly surprise a lot of folks, too. The proof will be in the pudding, as they say.

Given the significant upgrades to the roster, Dak Prescott will surprise possibly even myself. He needs a fresh running back running behind Pollard. Zeke had gotten too worn down, which ironically exposed Dak when before his explosiveness and blocking prowess was tough to handle. Zeke just lost his explosiveness. The Cowboys didn't sit on their hands this offseason, and vastly improved their team even before the draft.

My pre-camp comeback player for 2023 is Malik Jefferson. Texas alum with a nice RAS, just has to find it within and mentally, which he was on the cusp of doing last year. At least 'ole boy is still putting up a fight for a roster spot in the NFL. Not to exclude Devin Harper.

Micah will get a surprisingly high number of sacks, just shy of 20...

Is this the first four weeks of the preseason or season?

If it is the preseason, I'll predict that Kelvin Joseph is going to shine as a slot corner, Israel Mukuamu is going to look like he should be a starter, our kicker will come from the USFL (although that one is not really a surprise), Isaiah Land is going to look like Micah-lite and Terence Steele and Tony Pollard will be full go to return to practice by then.

If it's the season, I predict that Sam Williams is going to break out, Hunter Luepke is going to be our short-yardage back, Peyton Hendershot will be our top receiving tight end, Damone Clark is going to star at linebacker and Kavontae Turpin is going to lead the league in punt return average. Although not really sure many of those would be really big surprises.

Israel Makamu

Viliami Fehoko DT

CB Eric Scott

OT/OG Asim Richards

OT Matt Waletzko

LB Isaiah Land

- When Izzy can flex between S to CB in a pinch, and seems to have a knack vs pass game, that could spell a future battle with Hooker vs Izzy,
- From what I get vibes researching Fehoko, they like the way he works leverage, hands and his knack for getting into backfield thus
- Richards could be Steele 2.0 once he gets stronger, plus he's flexible at OG as well. Check out his Senior Bowl pass drills
- Scott could be Daron Bland like vibes, will see per camp, club traded up to get him.
- Before he hurt his shoulder they supposedly like and encouraged in limited time with Waletzko; offseason and another camp could prove big
- Land had an astounding 19 sacks in one season at only 210 pounds, could he make the 6th LB spot ?

My biggest surprise after the first four weeks will be if Tyron will still be starting and healthy. More of a shock really. Not a shot at him, but with all due respect....his body is put together by duct tape, super glue, and Dubble Bubble gum.

Just don't tell him i said that.

5 things that I don't want to see happen with other teams for the year and not just the first 4 weeks that could alter a successful Dallas season...

1. Don't want to see NY Giants have an above average to good o-line.
Their scheduling is brutal the first 9 weeks and I dont want that staff to be at 5-4 after 9 weeks, cuz I think they could really surprise if so.

2. Don't want to see Phillys d-line over power the interior of the Cowboys o-line in weeks 9 and 14. By then I am assuming Tyler Smith has already replaced an injured Tyron and I dont like those interior matchups against Philly's DTs

3. Don't want to see Moore's offense have its way with Quinn's defense when traveling to play the Chargers. That would surely shut up a lot of the noise on Moore's firing. Or maybe I do want that, lol j/k

4. Don't want a pass happy offense.

5. Don't want to have to shake my head in bewilderment all year long at the 2 most important positions of HC and QB NOT being a game day advantage against the opponent. My weekly and year long theme for this years team boils down to Decision Making in Real Time for this HC and QB.
I am curious if they can prove my doubt in them wrong.

Fingers crossed.

Cowboys!

It's supposed to be the season. But I fudged up and made a 17 game prediction with Parsons.

Wow, I could see this actually happening with Joseph. I said last year, he should be in the slot or at safety. And they are finally giving him a look there. I don't really see him as an outside corner, personally, at this point in this career. He's a slot corner, and safety. They've wasted some development there, I think. But he can be salvaged and the switch should be easier for him, imo.
