I know we are critical of the FO and players after a loss, but I think this is an interesting time to ask what you would do if you were Jerry (or at least a protected GM). Let’s see what our community GMs would actually do at 3-3.
———————————————-
I’ll be cannon fodder first.

I’m selling…hard.
I just realized the SB window is fully closed, and my QB makes FA unaffordable for 4 years. That means Im getting rid of any player that will likely have lost their value in 4 years for whatever draft capital I can get.

Martin, DLaw, anyone older but with value, gone. Heck even Micah because he will be pulp in 4 years. I’m hoping this frustrates my QB into demanding a trade, and I’ll even pay his bonus on the way out if it nets me better picks.

Over the next 4 years, I’m drafting positions with longer lifespans. QB, TE, OL, IDL, S, and building a solid foundation while tanking (the Lions did this exact thing). Then I go all in skill positions, and begin the next window.

I’d rather do something radical now than hope we magically rebound into a new window with less talent than ever.

What would you do at 3-3 with major players injured and the team playing like this?

I would want to fire McCarthy first thing. But to be fair I would let him know he is still retained.

Until the next Cowboys loss. When that happens, he is fired immediately.

Remove Stephen Jones and his Sous-chef pal that he has butchering the salary cap from all thing’s player personnel.

Hire the best available salary cap guru I can get. If can't find one, identify the best ones in the league and hire their #2.

Fire Mike McCarthy, name Al Harris as Interim HC, dare Mike Zimmer to complain about it and willing to fire him too.

Demote Will McClay to Director of College Scouting, perfectly okay if that means he leaves.

You have to remove the cancer and that means jettisoning all of the yes men.

First day I'm allowed to, I Interview Ben Johnson, Bobby Slowik, Matt Campbell (Iowa State), and Aaron Glenn. Apologies to Glenn, but I am probably hiring an offensive-minded coach.

Open the wallet of the most valuable franchise in all of sports and allow my new HC to hire the top assistants he wants.

Identify free agents that help the team. Focus on speed and mental toughness, two things this roster lacks.

Aggressively explore trades. Baseball mentality. Identify teams not likely to contend and get players in last year or years of their deal.

Still build through the draft.

Be accountable for my decisions.

Support the coaching staff.

Never, ever hold post-game press conferences or interviews.

I'm getting rid of quite a few players. The fans right now are growing very tired of the teams we trott out every year so I'm going to make them a promise. It's going to be one very lean year most likely followed by an average one. So a two-year process.

What we're going to do is get rid of the cancerous/declining players on this team. Zack Martin and Demarcus Lawrence will be June 1st cuts. If we can't find a trade suitor for Trayvon Diggs then he's going to be cut as well.

Steele gets next training camp to prove his knee has rehabbed otherwise he's gone as well. Cooks is gone. Elliot is gone. Mazi gets one more training camp to prove he belongs on the team or he's gone. The rest of the Interior lineman are gone. Sam Williams is getting traded. Micah is getting traded.

We're going to use our top five pick this year on a quarterback. Dak is getting benched unless we can find a trade suitor. We're not eating the dead money by releasing him.

Then we're going to fill the holes through the draft and free agency. It's going to take at least two years but this team isn't going anywhere following this current trajectory anyway. We've assembled a very dysfunctional roster and it's got to be purged and rebuilt.

And of course, McCarthy is gone. I don't know who's out there to hire but preferably somebody young, aggressive, no nonsense, and innovative.

I'm drafting running backs, defensive tackles and signing Micah.
With restructures I'm freeing up 50M and adding free agents at WR1 & 2, OL and DT, DE
I'm hiring Belichick as HC and the best OC and DC available in the country

Hire a Stevie Wonder fan like McMicah "who has a hard time finding a weakspot in the Dallas Cowboys roster."

I like the way you think sir!!

I also immediately fire anyone who advocates for a player whose 1) measurables aren't backed up by tape 2) coming off major injury 3) has "character issues" 4) played at Michigan.

okay, maybe I'm kidding about the 4th one. maybe.

Trade Parsons on Tuesday morning. Get 3 good players for him.
Win/win for everyone.

I wouldn’t have paid Dak, I would be sitting him on the bench and seeing what a dual threat may be able to get done with current players. I also would be trading and spending for defensive tackle and putting in cooks to see if he is actually cooked. With what I learn from the previous moves I determine if I need another run stopping lb or rb. That would be a good start to getting some knowledge on what I need to do in off season.

I kinda echoed this in my trade Micah thread.

You have to do some bold stuff.

Dak needs a ton around him and the only way to do it is a lot of draft picks.

We shouldn’t have done the Dak deal and we’d be golden right now.

So. Socially you’re playing moneyball the movie but not realizing you’ve already spent top dollar QB on a a that wouldn’t have been resigned in the movie. Recall they got rid of conseco, Damon, etc to clear cap and replaced with the numbers.

Like it or not, this team is married to Dak('s contract) probably until 2027.

You guys can be mad at Dak all you want. That bad contract lies solely at the feet of the nepo chemical engineer and Applebees grill master pretending to be football guys. I'll say it every post until people realize just how awful and unqualified Stephen Jones and Adam Prasifika are at their jobs.

G R O J - Every Jones

G R O S - Steele (more like aluminum foil, folds easily), and Martin. Help the rest of the O-line

G R O S - Solari

G R O Z - Zeke

G R O Z - Zimmerman, time to go

G R O M - Mike…all of the rest of them.

I would bring in winners, no hire that has ever been in a losing culture.

No head cases.

Maybe bring in a college coach who’s been recruiting and knows players who are coming out the next three years.

No Belicheat, or other retreads, no hiring guys because they’re buddies.

Talking this season and next, Bring Tom Brady and Terrell Owens out of retirement. If Dak can't win any important games this season, bench him for Brady. Use Owens as a 3rd or 4th option receiver. If he looks good at the bottom, begin to move him up next to CeeDee.

Brady will take low money to try to bring Dallas back to glory. It's not entirely about money for Brady at this point anyways. Owens is an extraordinarily hard worker, who, in my opinion, can still play in the NFL at 51.

After making the NFC Championship/possibly win a Super Bowl with Brady, try at another and then eventually try to tank for Arch Manning.

Good thing I'm not a GM, lol.
