It's not a ritual. It really is OCD, how he adjusts his helmet and his sock/shoe. He does it on every kick. (Big ones, minor ones, misses on, hits.)

I just wish the camera wouldn't dwell on it. Feels embarrassing. Like when coach told me if you get racked in basketball, "Grab your ankle. Nobody wants to see you cradling your nuts."

And I don't really get the hair stuff. It seems super short. Maybe just having the helmet on head square so vision is good. But the hair?

Shoe/sock is a little more understandable, but I could see lacing down the shoe more than the sock thing. I mean I do hate on hikes having a fold of a sock in a boot. But that's different from a couple minutes on the field. Or heck, just kick it sans sock.

I hope it doesn't bite us in the ***, if we need to do a speed field goal, sans timeout.

His routine doesnt inspire others to have confidence in him.

Always preferred the relaxed kickers who seem immune from pressure.

or could let a kicker do what he needs to do to have confidence in himself

I know a few years back in the NHL Spencer Knight, young goalie, stepped away from the NHL club to get assistance for his OCD.
He's back and seems to back on track as a possible #1 goalie once the starter leaves.

Kicker is one hell of a mental battle for a lot of guys to face. Good for him being composed enough to make the kick, even if it was for our rivals.
