Possible pick Tre Amos OLE Miss part of a very good attacking D . Diggs is surgery recovering and Butler the UDFA looked really nice until season ending surgery . Lewis is a FA hopefully they bring back then you have Bland and little else .

Amani O would rate higher than Carson but this position screams for 2025 starter .

If you go DT round one possibly Walter Nolen then grab your RB Sampson , Trey Amos at 3 has to start game one opposite Bland can’t afford a developmental CB round 3.

That isn't the way it works. Third-round picks are not guaranteed starters. Third-round picks are players with flaws that you hope can overcome those flaws to be starters.

Amos is a good player it would have to be CB Amos at 44 and RB Sampson at 76 for it to be realistic. Not a bad plan especially if Diggs has a severe enough injury to hamper his career for an extended period of time. If they expect Diggs to make a recovery, it won't be a long term need, and I would expect a Nickel CB on Day 3 to replace the 1 year contract they are going to give Lewis in FA.

Can’t count on Diggs or Butler until they actually step on the field . Going into 2025 with Bland plus ? That’s not a plan .

I don’t think Dallas chasing Philly can count on third round projects . After absorbing being in the NFL Liufau seems to be contributing as a starter . The Cowboys need a CB drafted high enough ( 2 or 3 ) that can cover people . Carson the 5th rounder was lost last year .

In my opinion they have Bland on the outside and I think Lewis will return for at least a year.
Still got Carson, but too early to say he can be a + contributor next season.

Diggs will be out for a bit, at least to start the season. SJ, FWIW said it would be a 8 month rehab post surgery back in December. Diggs had the surgery 3 weeks ago.
That should mean he ends up on PUP and may miss the first 4 weeks if the 8 month rehab is correct and includes getting back to "NFL" shape.

So, Dallas will need some type of starter week 1. I think they should take a flier in FA, low-mid signing as a hold over and still draft someone day 2-3 depending on how the board falls.

Dallas hasn't restructured Diggs yet and there were rumors they weren't happy with his rehab, so, TBD if they see him as a player in 2026.

I would like to take back C Ward from the 49ers as a buy sort of lowish player who suffered a huge loss off the field. Change of scenery could do him wonders on and off the field.

Not disputing they need an insurance policy for Diggs next season, just don't know if that need is a priority. You could always sign or trade for another aging stop gap like Gilmore was for us two years ago.

Sign a stop gap experience veteran to allow Diggs not to rush back and risk further injury.

Man, Gilmore was already aged when we had him 2-3 years ago. Can’t imagine what he’s like now.

i like harris from iowa.
i'd love to get def. players coached by that staff...especially the secondary guys.

All third-rounders are a project. There are simply reasons they weren't good enough to value in the first or second round. There are some positions like guard or running back where positional value may make a player drop to the third, but even those are hit and miss. I think fans expect too much from the draft, when the reality of it shows you have just as much of a chance of hitting on a player as missing on one. Even the first round is sketchy, but from the mid- to late-second on, it's about 50/50 or lower.

You have to depend on the draft that’s your main source of talent . You can’t buy a team full of FA’s . Asking a 3rd rounder especially Dallas this year in a better draft position to have a 3rd rounder be impactful is a must if they hope to close the gap of a 3rd place team in a 4 team division .

And I read all these mock drafts about WR RB DT & LB check out the CB position , They better bring Lewis back but he’s a nickel your not sticking him play after play on McLaurin or Brown …

Dallas needs a CB to play opposite Bland. DJ Reed of the Jets was my suggestion as a FA but the Jones family won’t crack the vault he’s 12 million per player . Better draft one and no not a 5th like Carson .

Actually your best bet is you hope Carson plays better in year two and develops into contributor.

You can’t hope and pray . Brown McLaurin will eat his Wheaties and start a new dance routine in the End Zone .

If Diggs & Butler weren’t surgery status you would feel better about CB .
Amani O is about the only back up on the roster I would feel comfortable plugging in .

Troy Pride Jr at the end of the year Wash game showed he is in the neighborhood of a WR , would like to see him a lot in pre season maybe the Cowboys hit on a 4th rounder courtesy of Carolina who originally drafted him . He’s 27 like Amani O who had 5 yrs with the Lions he’s experienced .

We have leaking holes all over the roster. Right now as the team is constructed we have one of the worst rosters in the NFC.
