Basic Myths and Truths about the salary cap

Well yeah. As a fan, I’m fine with losing…as long as you’re building toward eventually winning.

This team is neither. It’s really beginning to become apparent how incapable these two are. It’ll show more so on the field in the coming seasons and hopefully will result in Jerry being humiliated and bringing in a Parcells type to run the whole thing eventually.
100%. I don't mind 1-2 win seasons if we are building.

The GB game spooked him. I'm still convinced his intention was to build on that team, but the stark realisation that it failed meant he edged his bet.....relied upon his 'elite' paid stars, but expecting them to earn their money.
He's spending something in spending in FA, the bigger issue is why he didn't trade away the 2023 team....and start the rebuild properly in the draft.
It’s easy to get spooked when you don’t really know what kind of team we are trying to build. I honestly believe JJ and SJ are fantasy football team builders wanting “stars” as opposed to having “cornerstones” you can build with.

Put another way, if you undervalue DL/OL as building blocks, you force your skill position people to carry your team.

they have never figured out that you need solid grunts to make the stars shine

And the results could be better if those skilled positions are Elite. And stay healthy.

But we over value our stars and some key positions.

And the answer is because he is football dumb. He believes like many of the casual fans do, that the words rebuild and tank and trading away assets are dirty words. Jerry cannot stand the thought of giving up talent and/or wins in order to win in the future. He is simply that dumb.
Yep, when you’re unable to build from ground up your worst nightmare is hitting rock bottom which actually enables you a greater opportunity to rebuild thru draft.

And why maintaining relative mediocre bordeline playoff type contenders enables Jethro to promote his brand and hype his team.

Unfortunately it’s been working for him. An off year like last year brings him more heat but the 3 12 win seasons however disappointing endings had him on his game.

It’s sad what we have become . It what it is. And not likely changing until he’s gone.

It is in the leagues best interest for the most popular team in the league, not to win, and just hang out at the rim. To grow they need other teams to have success. That is the whole point of the salary cap and the draft order.

It takes a talented GM, to overcome the designed parity of the league and we don't have one.
While it’s in the best interest of the league for the Cowboys to remain relative it’s proven more success isnt necessary for the financial success.

And to support your notion while the Cowboys relativity or hanging around the rim pays off it allows other teams to flourish who might not otherwise have as much success. Win win for the league.

And why the rest of the league should love our most hated owner. He brings additional revenue and interest to the league without seriously challenging for a championship.

Which leads to injuries and being dominated against teams strong up front.

Y8ou watch. I expect Jethro to push Dak's salary down the road so we can finish 9-8. That's his MO.

Plus….gotta keep Netflix calling to keep Jerry’s celebrity thing going.

Oh definitely. He got 'spoiked', because the plan was haphazard, rather than basing it on a committed strategy.

Spot on, on the lines....Jerry sees the stars, but doesn't appreciate that if you provide the stable foundations of the lines it then facilitate more than just the one 'star', it actually helps multi-systems.

All skill positions are rendered ineffective by weak fronts.
