The recurring theme from the coach interviews was that we need to be more physical at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Given our glaring need at DT I sorted through the profiles of the draft prospects to see which ones might fit the bill.

Derrick Harmon Oregon
He will bring an instant dose of stinginess and toughness to any defense he joins.

Tyleik Williams OSU
Drain-clogging run defender with violent first contact and nimble feet for impressive tackle production.
He physically dominates man-on-man matchups
  • Explosive and violent in initial stages of block take-on.

Shemar Turner Texas A&M
Turner plays with unlimited activity and a heavy dose of violence.
  • Plays with a relentless level of aggression.
Ty Robinson Nebraska
Bully with a roughshod playing style that forces blockers to match his physicality.
  • Plays with hot motor and robust physicality.
T. J. Sanders South Carolina
  • Lands first with violent, leveraged hand strikes.

I want physical guys at every position on D

first thing I would look for is that no one is making business decisions

Yes please, to any and all of the above. Ty Robinson is my preference. Big dude with bad intentions every down. Very physical. We need to draft more than one guy like that.

Derrick Harmon isn't good yet. I'll pass on him. He's not physical enough.

I agree that Harmon isnt good yet....but I think his lack of physicality comes from just not being very "good" yet. I've only watched limited tape of his so far, but he might be a total steal for someone. The guy plays with some of the worst technique you'll see at times but is so physically gifted it just doesnt matter. Multiple times against Ohio State he plays with high pad level against a double team and still just takes on two OL like its nothing. He is a guy that I think teams will interview him trying to get a feel for how coachable he is. Playing against better competition at the NFL level and pro coaching could take him to the next level. Get him more disciplined and consistent down to down and that physicality could really show up. He seems to have the traits of an Eberflus defender, but is likely a bit of a project.

I think if the Cowboys are going to consider a 1st rd DT, their is going to have to be pass rush upside. We know Graham, Harmon, Nolen do have that, where the likes of Williams/Grant are more dominate run defenders, who I would take, but don't think they will.

I think DLaw might surprise and retire like Martin. We might need to draft a pass rusher. But what if Mason Graham falls to 12? Id draft him . He might be the best player in this draft at any position, other than Jeanty or Hunter. The tape on Graham is special. He would be Chris Jones , day 1. Mazi and him inside would make Mazi much better. Just think how this would benefit Kneeland at edge.

Did you get a chance to watch the Locked On Cowboys podcast yesterday? The Nolen discussion was pretty good.

I'll take 2, or 3!

It is hard to gauge where these guys will go in the draft. Robinson seems to be available late in the draft on some simulators. He reminds me of that Fiske kid the Ram took last year. He has the same kind of playing style.

Dallas really needs 2 or 3 of these guys. There are plenty out there that seem like they would be an upgrade, at least in a few years.

Scourton, WNolen, Turner, Stewart...........I'd take that as a DL, and they all were Aggies once upon a time.

Graham and Grant......would be excellent additions.

DWalker --- Boom or Bust, but the BOOM might be Aaron Donald like or a cross between JJ Watt and Vince Wilfork

Ty Robinson, DHarmon, JCaldwell, TWilliams, TJSanders -- how could you go wrong here?

I am sure I missed some DE and others, but these are 12 names I would love to see at least a couple picked in the top 3 rounds.

These are besides the Carter, JWalker, Pearce, Green, etc playmakers that could help as well.

So MANY of these guys are better than what we have now there is no real excuse to not get two of them

Robinson and Caldwell. If we can somehow get Graham, then one of the two guys I just mentioned, then we are cookin. We transformed our defense just like that. This is what smart drafting looks like. It can change a teams destiny in an instant. Look at Philly and Washington. The McCarthy drafting last couple year's was atrocious at times. Now let's get back to basics.

Tank won’t retire. He’s going to sign a 1-2 year deal with a contender like Detroit or Washington
