I know, who are we kidding - but if you had your choice of 3 FA's who would it be (including our own if you wish) - trying to make it realistic as possible money wise. Not just picking the top 3 available

This is going off of PFF rankings

11. Stefon Diggs - WR - this one just seems like a Jerry special. Gets the Diggs brothers and he's coming off a season ending inj. Might come cheaper

18. Dre Greenlaw - LB - good coverage LB who would fit the new defensive scheme. Just need to make sure Achilles injury is healed - HUGE need

53. Calais Campbell - DT - dude might be in a walker still playing, but he's effective as they get against the run. Not sure if he comes back, but a 1 yr deal who fit perfect, especially if they draft a couple DTs this year. Only thing is, he's not quite the pass rusher he use to be and that might not fit. Jarran Reed might be a better fit, but you'd have to give him a longer deal and he's already 32...

What we'll actually get:

Empty promises
Vet minimum washed-up player or 2
Rico Dowdle (I hope)

I wouldn't be surprised by us signing Diggs since he is coming off an injury and his brother is here. I would think Eberflus will get a linebacker he wants, but probably someone he has worked with before. I doubt we'll do anything at DT other than re-signing Odighizuwa because he won't be cheap.

Besides WR and LB, my hope is that we add a vet CB to start while our Diggs is sidelined and a vet RB. I've got some names in mind, but those are the positions that I think need to be addressed before the draft to make it to where we are not wedged into drafting particular positions early. Yes, there are positions that still would be priorities to make better, but not have to have because we have no one to fill them.

They will resign OO for big money, use a fifth round comp on a DT and consider the position fixed.
That is my fear. Would love for Odighizuwa to be re-signed, but if that causes them to ignore the position early in the draft, then I hope someone throws big money at him and he leaves. We need to create a rotation with Odig, a monster 3-tech, Mazi and another run stuffer. If Mazi doesn't continue to improve, then he may end up at the back of that rotation.

I'm bored, so I'll play
1) solid WR2, low miles and shows good to very good separation
2) a fridge like player for NT1
3) good to very good corner cuz Diggs won't be the playing for the entire season
4) a decent coverage LB

Exactly. The better bet….assuming the market falls as predicted….is to let OO walk, sign Golston and hope that pick 12 can be a very solid DT. Also add in the later rounds and add a lower level FA.

They go way too above and beyond to keep what we already know isn’t good enough. Jerry actually thinks giving Parsons a new deal makes the team better.

I’d really be surprised if they get this right.

The only problem with taking a DT with pick 12 is I have no idea where Dallas has them rated. It could be that Mason Graham is the only DT with that high of a value, and he's possibly top-five valued and will be gone. Now, I personally believe Walter Nolen is worth the pick, but I'm not a scout, so I have no idea if teams value him that highly. I could live with trading down slightly if he's not and taking him or Derrick Harmon (or even Kenneth Grant, but he's more of an NT), but again, I'm not sure of the value or if we could even find a trade partner. I'd also hate to pass on a higher-rated player because we've wedged ourselves into having to take a DT, even if I want one really, really badly.

I'm for giving Odig the transition tag, which means we'd have to pay him around $19 million this season (or match any offer for him), drafting a DT in the first or second round depending on value (and at least one more) and seeing if we can make it to where we can let Odig walk the next year on a big contract or if he proves to be the better DT and we need to retain him long term.

Giving him $19 million won't break us or keep us from being able to sign FAs if we simply restructure the base amounts for Dak and CeeDee and extend Parsons. That creates around $60 million in cap space, and we can create more with other moves if needed. Letting Odig go means we have a hole to fill and the way the Joneses handle filling holes means we'd likely end up with an inferior player doing it.

I've been saying the Cowboys should be aggressive in getting him since he left Arizona after 2016.

DLaw and Campbell would have made good bookend DE's.
